If I wanted a toy that felt like it was going to break if I stared at it funny, or if I wanted a toy with bizarre, tiny-headed proportions, I'd take 25th. ARAH may be less detailed, but those "goofy big heads" are much better proportioned to actual people than the pinhead 25th figures (and I don't mean a Hellraiser custom). It's sad that pinheaded, musclebound comic book characters have altered people's perceptions of what humans actually look like. Everytime I see a modern era figure (or even Spy Troops or VvV), I think of the Goombas from the Super Mario Bros. movie.
Also, if I were a kid and saw the two side by side, I'd buy the 25th. And then I'd be really upset when the thing broke after I parachuted it off the bunk bed or ran it over with the BUGG.

Each one has it's plus's and minus's.
THEN;plus's- Vehicles galore (and yes, they do stand the test of time), bigger variety (I mean, HOW many different cast did they have then as compared to now), articulation was better for the time than most figures had, more accessories, and from today's standpoint, CHEAPER with good quality.
NOW;plus's- Better articulation (by far), more details
NOW;minus's- expensive, lack of variety(though, I'll admit they've got a better variety in 2 years than the original line did figurewise), lack of consistancy (we all know they could put them out a lot faster than they did, or in bigger assortments, especially with them reusing molds so much), and that now, when a related movie comes out, Hasbro'll drop the ball to cover the movie rather than make fans happy.
Hasbro needs to stop picking up so many properties, and focus on what's made them money year after year.
-Transformers classics; Megatron, various voyager and ultra, legends Beachcomber, and any 3.0 past the first 4, minus Rattrap
-various Marvel Legends (some BaFs parts.)
-Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts (for my dad and nephew)

Both have their goods and bad points. ARAH beats 25th in some ways, and 25th beats out ARAH in others. Both are displayed in my house.

It's really hard for me to put nostalgia aside...i would trade my 25th stuff for it's ARAH equivalent any day.

I still love the designs of the original figures made before 1990 or so but I must admit imo most the 25th figure do look better design wise (though I still like the looks of the original 1985 Snake Eyes over his newer counterparts). That being said the nostalgia of the originals will allways make me prefer the originals over the newer figures.

#1 problem with America - we have our disposable heroes.
Love them till something better comes along. The way I see it, if you can leave something behind so easily you never loved it in the first place, and if you never loved it, then you never deserved to have it in your life.
25th are modern updated "more articulated" versions of the original, but without the original, there would never be 25th style.
Putting nostalgia aside and simply speaking from a logical perspective, I loved ARAH first so they will always be first. I'm not ready to dispose of them for the newest model.

I noticed the 25e Anniversary figures by chance one day...and was drawn back into the whole Joe interest. In my head, it's the same thing...but after tripping on the new sculpts, I can't go back to the original molds. I don't think that negates their place, or how much I loved them. I just means I'm more discerning and less easily impressed as I age. But had there never been the ARAH line...this whole conversation would be moot....
Not only are you cripplingly ignorant, you whine about it as well.

I loved my ARAH figures right up until the 25th line came out. They have been sidelined though I will NEVER get rid of them.
The new figs have better sculpts and detail. I don't like the way they sit but otherwise the added articulation is mostly good. I understand teh softer plastic's purpose- haven't broken a thumb yet- but had NO trouble with my ARAH guys- and I beat the living hell out of them back in the day.
I do have one bad thing to say about 25th- I HATE the new Crimson Guard and I LOVED the old one. The new one looks like a cycloptic dog- faced robot. EEEEWWWWWW. I am thinking of making a cast of the old head fitted to a 25th neck, and then plopping those on red-painted Cobra troopers. THAT would make a better CG than the crap they want me to buy a 5-pack of.
In other news, I would eat a Volkswagon for a handful of 25th EELs
Both lines have a place in my heart. 25th figs have a place in my wallet... oh and some big cobra planes that were poorly reinvented

The 25th line is nice to look at, and are awesome MOC, but are junk compared to the ARAH line. My son's 25th figs all developed loose legs after a couple weeks of play, and just this weekend one of his figures hands just fell off. My old ARAH toys hold up better after 20 YEARS, then these new ones after 20 days.
