As for me it is IMPOSSIBLE to separate the Nostalgia factor from the ARAH joes. I REALLY like the 25th line, but I will love those ARAH figs forever.

personally i think the 25th line has good detail and articulation, but for the most part is crap.i still have them all even though they cant hold their guns, keep their hands and feet on and their funny looking lower torso's.
i mean come on, just try and tell me they dont look silly.
all 25th did for me was get me back into arah.

I love them all. The modern era are fantastic, and superior as far as detail and articulation, but there's something about the ARAH figures that still make them my favorite. I'd like to think it's more than just nostalgia...
They were the quintessential childhood toy for me. Better than Transformers, better than Star Wars, and M.A.S.K.... they are just fantastic.

The modern have batter sculpts to be sure. But I can balance and pose the ARAH way easier and IMO much better. The poseability with the modern may be better, but they don't balance better and fall over frequently....the ARAH I have on display (dozens) do not fall over.
I like both, but for sure ARAH is superior for a balance of play durability, looks, and engineering. The modern look better and are more detailed, but the bonuses of having knives, guns, etc that fit in holsters doesn't outweigh a well-balanced toy.

The older figures don't look good when sitting next to today's figures, but many of the old vehicles and playsets are still fantastic pieces.

ARAH are the background fodder figures for dios or a custom where articulation isn`t a requirement,so yea they still have a place in my collection.

The armor holds up better then the figures.

I don't get how some people tout the great articulation of the 25th figures. I would give up the extra ankle, knee, etc. articulation for a figure that can hold its weapon with a two handed grip any day (which so many of them can't). And I'll echo the sentimets of the last poster who said that the 25th line is inconsistent. There are great figures like the BAT but then you have others like Mutt that are laughable. Hell, the Bazooka, Gung Ho and Crimson Guard Combat Heroes look more true to the characters than the 25th figures do.
I was excited for the 25th line when it first came out, but so many issues really turned me off to the line: figures couldn't hold their weapons, they couldn't sit down, some of their faces looked downright bizarre, Hasbro keeps making each new incarnation of a character "better", playability is far less than the original line. Take all these things into account for the "Modern" toys and they really aren't much superior to the ARAH figures, they take a step back in a lot of categories.
