I was looking at the new POC Beachhead and noticed how (for this figure) he's called an Urban Combat Specialist. And this got me thinking...
Did Hasbro ever produce a single carded Urban Combat Specialist / Trooper in the vintage Real American Hero line? Someone who had the actual words "Urban combat" on the front of their card under their codename? And further to that: what other military roles for would-be Joes could have been added to the vintage line? For example, off the top of my head: * Combat Engineer - Tollbooth had it as his primary military speciality but I don't think we ever got one as a carded figure? * Subterranean Specialist - I always thought of Tunnel Rat, but then found out he was actually E.O.D. Maybe its a bit of a stretch to think a military outfit would have one. Personally, I think it would make a cool figure though. Maybe I'm wrong about all of these - if so let me know! Are there any that you guys can think of? |

Well, if you are looking for a real list of MOS that they never used for Joes, here's one for starters:
Infantry Officer Fire Support Specialist Cannon Fire Direction Specialist Cavalry Scout Electronic Warfare Specialist Paralegal Specialist Chaplain Flight Surgeon Ammunition Specialist |

A Chaplain doesn't carry a weapon. A Chaplain's assistant does. Usually is his driver also.
Shockwave? SWAT is the Urban Combat Specialist from before Tunnel Rat's Secondary is Combat Engineer. Zap is also a Combat Engineer. I guess Short-Fuse was too, but he's listed as Infantry Engineer. Almost any Joe listed as Demolitions or Explosives should be a combat Engineer, as neither is a real MOS but Combat engineers are tho ones who really perform those tasks. So in that case: Tripwire Version 2 Blowtorch Ripcord Tollbooth Tunnel-Rat Steam Roller lightFoot Static-Line & Mercer V2

Barbeque was a fireman... not exactly a fire support specialist. LOL
Heavy Metal's secondary was finance and Alpine's was a finance clerk. Fast Draw has clerk typist as his secondary.

Actually there is a separate MOS for EOD (89E) under the Ordnance Branch. Combat Engineers (12B) do handle demolition but the EODs are the ones that defuse IED and UXO if required. |

Barbeque would fall under the Corps of Engineers as a Firefighter (12M), Alpine's secondary MOS would be Financial Management Technician (36B), and Fast Draw's typing skills probably got him pulling duty as a Human Resource Specialist (42A). |
