Finally got my set of gantry doors!! Looks so much better with them on. Just a few more parts and she'll be done. I will also be posting a bunch of extra parts soon.

I looked and the gears are not broken... it's weird. I'll look again. In the meantime I made a skateboard type dolly to hold it off the wheels.

Xero... I hate you... I have a Flagg I ordered 3 months ago still sitting in shipping box that I wanted to restore. (Moving in a couple weeks didn't want to get started on it until after the move) Now your Defiant is stuck in my head.
All kidding aside, that is BAD A$$! Congrats and Great Job! |

So, I am very soon to be amongst your ranks and was just wondering if there were any tips for ownership beyond some of the obvious.
I know to be careful about the gantry wheels, as the weight of the whole thing tends to crush them. I know to be careful not to crack the blue doors. I know to be careful with the crank and track system, and the one I am getting is in need of some repair work there already. Are there any things that have popped up that y'all were not already prepared for? Also, any tips on disassembly for cleaning the gantry? It's pretty dang filthy and the engine bays had mouse poop in them(part of why I am getting a pretty sweet deal), so any tips from experience? Are there parts that I should absolutely not try taking apart? In particular the door hinges or the crank mechanism. (Geez, I almost feel like a soon-to-be parent making vague requests for advice on kids...) .

(Geez, I almost feel like a soon-to-be parent making vague requests for advice on kids...) . It's very fragile. The red guns on the gantry, the steps on the side of the gantry are fragile. My lift gear is broken and won't raise or lower on it's own. I would probably not even try to raise and lower it with the crank. I built a rolling platform for it to sit on because it's super heavy on the gantry wheels.
