Thanks. I received messages from my seller this evening:
Seller: "Actually found a box big enough to fit all of it and it will be safely bubbled wrapped beyond belief. Going out via UPS tomorrow. Sorry for the delay, but I wanted you to have it safely given the money you spent. Hope it arrives as well as it leaves and you enjoy it! Thank you so much." Me: "Thanks, were you able to separate the blue gantry doors from the hinges?" Seller: "No. As I began working on those it was clear they weren't coming off safely. Instead, we have packed the inside so full of bubble wrap, that they won't move. We've also packed the outside to reduce any pressure. If it happens to arrive in poor shape, we'll refund the purchase." Will it still arrive safely if he doesn't disassemble it? Now I'm getting worried. Also, he was originally going to send these in 3 separate boxes, but instead is now sending it in one big box.

I wish you the best of luck. Hope everything gets there ok. I had purchased a second one on ebay and it arrived ok. The second one was packed by the UPS store and they were warned about the blue doors. I did the same thing as you the second time and would talk to the sellers before even bidding.

Looks like I got some good luck with my shipment, and I am so relieved. I was only charged $25.00 for shipping, but the USPS shipping label clearly shows the seller paid $132 to ship this thing. He offered a full refund if it were to arrive broken, but it would be a pain shipping this thing back to him. My biggest fears of course was of the blue gantry doors cracking or damage to the booster attachments during transit. I'm glad he listened to me and did not set the shuttle fixed to the booster as pre-warned by codenameflint. There was only one piece that arrived broken and it was one of the wheel housings. I can tell that one other wheel housings tabs are bent but it is still attached to the gantry base. (Are those hard to pull out?) The seller messaged me this morning with a follow-up message asking if everything arrived safely. I appreciated this. In addition, he found the file cards for Payload and Hardtop and one of the big red guns for the gantry that was originally missing in the auction. He said he will ship them out later this week. I kinda wish I knew to tell him to pad up the bottom of the crawler so that there would be more support for the wheel housings. But I didn't know about the way the wheel housing was to pre-warn him otherwise I'm sure he would have honored my request. The only things I'm missing now are: 1. Cab Seat (Gantry) 2. Both Elevators (Dark Grey) 3. All (6) Railings (Dark Grey) 4. (1) Inverted Gun Turret for Crawler (Red) 5. Revolving Door (Dark Grey) (Replace as one of the hinges cracked off) 6. M-4744-1: Right Utility Computer Console (Black) 7. Payload's MMU Backpack 8. MMU Backpack's control arms (2) I'm really happy with the overall condition of this beast. Everything is still white on the shuttle and I don't see discoloration. A good thorough cleaning and a set of Defiant repro stickers from Cobra Stickers will make this a fun restoration project. I'M SO PROUD TO BE ABLE TO CALL MYSELF AN OFFICIAL DEFIANT OWNER NOW! Is it difficult to fully take this thing apart? If it is, which part(s) do I have to exercise caution with when taking it apart? I wanted to take it apart only to do a thorough cleaning and polishing.

Has anyone done a complete disassembly to do a deep cleaning? If so, are there some parts that I need to watch out for in risk of easily breaking than others>

Always wanted a Defiant, but how many of you guys only had this as a kid?
Man I loved that shuttle, loved the little pod inside that used the shuttle's thruster.

Hey guys I got some extra defiant parts from one I'm restoring. I have, side orange crawler glass, some gray railings, small shuttle landing gear, nose, lower triangular hatches, small glass pieces, some more odds and ends. Looking to trade for parts I'm missing from my defiant or air assault parts or night boomer parts. Will also sell parts. Pm me for pictures and questions.

My Defiant finally arrived in the mail yesterday. I was losing sleep being anxious for a whole week while waiting for it to arrive. lol The seller packed it very well and it was filled with tons of padded newspaper and bubble wrap protecting all components.
