So Snake Eyes was the first G.I. Joe I owned. My mother brought it home for me as a surprise back in what had to be '82 along with the green motorcycle (the one with the mini gun side car).
I've had the same Snake Eyes all this time, but the fingers on the right hand broke off years ago. It's funny actually because as I acquired other G.I. Joes, the very first Snake Eyes became one of my least favorite - which probably explains why mine is totally unscuffed, minus the oddly broken fingers. In any event, I recently picked up another, vintage Snake Eyes on the bay. He had scuffed legs, but his arms and hands were great, so I was finally able to repair my original Snake Eyes in all of his straight arm vintage glory.... Loose, Complete 1982, One-Owner, low miles... Super Tight, runs like a charm... But someone had to die to keep this baby alive... Last edited by IMJ; 02-26-2009 at 11:00 PM.. |

I remember playing with an 82-83 SnakeEyes when I was a kid. My grandmother bought it for at Woolworth and I was sitting in her 1979 fire engine red Cadillac. So with that memory lingering Im after another as well.

Mine is pretty scratched up but isn't broken anywhere. Oddly his o-ring seems to be in good shape compared to the other '82 figures I have. Your pictures make me want to get him out of hiding (from my son).

His was the first character I ever got. Immediately a visual favorite, I didn't realize he'd eventually get such a cool back story as well. I actually started to dislike him, the more they started making him more "ninja" than "Commando". I still prefer SE in his classic outfit, more fitting of a military unit.

Yeah, that's the beauty of ebay, sometimes you get EXACTLY what you needed, even though you didn't know you were getting it.
About 8-9 years ago, I pretty much made it a mission to repair my vintage Joes and fill in some gaps. I used to buy a lot of weapons/parts lots. I found a whole bunch of things I was missing and really improved the quality of my collection. It's an awesome feeling to find in a random pile of parts you bought, an intact torso to a figure of yours that suffered a broken crotch years before. |

While he wasn't my first joe, I loved the look of him since the beginning. When I started reading the comic with issue 12 that I got from my school library I was hooked. I think I got him around number 8 or so...he was hard to find at retail, or at least for a 3rd grader...I still have my original, but alas he he also broken, but I have several others so it's all good.

I never owned an 82 Snake Eyes. I never cared for the straight armed figures. I believe my first figure was Duke and my brother's was Recondo.
I'm still looking for a swivel arm 82-83 Snake Eyes though.
