I'll be selling my USS Flagg on eBay soon. I normally offer shipping Worldwide (in fact about 2/3 of my buyers have been International). My question is, has anyone on the board ever sold a USS Flagg and did NOT do a "local pickup only", i.e. you boxed it up and shipped it? The largest item I'd ever shipped was probably the Defiant Shuttle Complex, but that was to a Domestic buyer and it just BARELY fit in the Priority Mail box dimensions limit (two different postal workers measured and came within two inches of each other's recording, the average between the two met the maximum size limit exactly). I don't know if I should put the Flagg parts in two or three separately-shipped boxes, or if there is an option available that I can just pack it all into one ginormous box and send it that way. It's been too long since I bought the Flagg (probably been 10-11 years) and I don't remember how it was shipped to me. Is UPS or FedEx a viable option? I don't know what their size limits are, how reasonable the pricing is, if they ship globally, etc. Or should I just offer to US buyers only? Like I said, most of my buyers are International and I'd hate to exclude them (shout outs to Singapore, China, Malaysia, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Denmark, France, Spain, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Belgium and anyone else I may have forgotten, if you're a Tanker I thank you for your business!!!).

If it is going domestically, I would personally ship in 2-3 boxes and get them all insured each at my own expense. Sure, you may charge the buyer some for shipping, but still, you are getting a profit regardless. I would rather ship out and feel safe asa the seller rather than having something go wrong. I would take photos of the wrapping, packaging, boxing for insuring purposes too.
I would never ship it all in one box!!!

I sold one, complete and in the original box. Cost $350 to ship, freight. Domestic. They boxed it for me at the shipping store.
I didn't even consider international, even though at least half of my customers were usually international buyers. Just too much headache on this item, IMO. I was so glad to get this overrated hunk of furniture out of my house. |

Yes you can ship it worldwide. I lived in Jakarta, Indonesia and I bought 98% complete USS Flagg on last February from Ebay seller located in Niagara Falls, NY. He shipped it in 2 large boxes for the parts and small deck by USPS Priority Mail. For the large decks he shipped it by USPS GxG which in my country it will be deliver to FedEx then FedEx deliver it to me. The large decks was not in a box but he wrapped it with a Styrofoam on the inside and cardboard for the outer side, its all sealed with a duct tape very tight. So its measured as customized box. total ship cost was $400 in total which for boxes each were $80 and the rest was for the GxG cost. All with tracking number. To be honest I'm really grateful that the seller really helped me out, its very hard to find someone that willing to ship international for USS Flagg. Hope its help you to help another person whose really want to have a Flagg in other countries out there..

I bought one off someone here at the tank a few years back. It was shipped in two boxes. One box was just the large deck piece. The other box contained everything else and was package very well with bubble wrap. It was shipped via UPS and arrived in great shape.
I'm not sure what the seller paid, but we negotiated the shipping cost with the overall cost of the flagg. |

shipping the 2 large deck pieces seperate is the way to go. You just need to get a large piece of cardboard that can wrap completely around the pieces. make sure they are secured to each other. You will have to ship it UPS, or Fedex. Then the rest find a box and pack all the small parts inside the 2 ends and the tower base. Total shipping domestic will be $80-100. As mentioned, if you do offer International, make sure you have the correct costs and let buyers know what garantees or not you are giving them. Very few are offered internationally.

I've been shipping auto parts by UPS for years. To be as safe as possible, use extra carboard, foam or bubble wrap for each large piece. You do not want the large pieces to hit, or rub against each other. Also use enough packing inside to make sure stuff doesn't move around inside. Use paper, bubble wrap, big hunks of styrofoam, or even smaller boxes inside. Do not use peanuts for heavy objects, they will get crushed and settle, just like cereal or chips that are only half full when you first open them.
Also use a clean rag and wipe off the box before you use any tape if it is dusty, the tape will stick to the dirt, not the box. I also use overlapping strips of tape for maximum strength. Remember, the package handlers do not care about your toys, or if you write fragile on it. Pack it well enough to survive a worst case scenario, like a 10 foot drop-kick.
