This part of the poll will be slightly easier to choose, as it's mostly playsets and another Battle Gear pack with only a couple of vehicles. While I do appreciate the upgraded VAMP, I have to vote on the Mark I VAMP with the HAL. It's the same basic vehicle in a different colour and with a different main weapon, but the addition of the HAL gives the VAMP + HAL more playability, in my eyes.
I really do hope they remake these smaller playsets for Classified. It would really make dioramas look great... as well as save those of us with lackluster skills from having to make them, ourselves. Link to Part 1: https://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-j...-part-1-a.html

I'm going with the Watch Tower. The VAMPS are great and have more play value overall, but a kid in 84 is going to have the original VAMP already and the Watch Tower adds more to the play experience than a second jeep. The thing is small and simple and goes everywhere and fits every setup. It's got a light so you can play out Firefly trying to infiltrate the Joe camp. It's got a gun so it can be on the front lines of repelling a HISS or troop attack. The opening door adds a lot. It's a perfect set for its size.
The Bivouac would be my second choice and it complements the Watch Tower well as a place for the watchers to chill. It's got so many parts and gives you a camp to expand play opportunities beyond the battlefield. Both these sets should be in Classified. |

I went with Watch Tower thinking no one else would, glad to see others loved it as much as I did!

This is a tough choice for this poll, because there are so many good options to choose from.
I will go with the MANTA (Marine Assault Nautical Transport Air-Driven) because it was so fun waiting with anticipation for our first mail offer vehicle, and then getting to assemble and play with it when it eventually arrived in the mailbox. My only disappointment with this toy was that Hasbro failed to provide any stickers for this product. Didn't they realize that was part of the fun when assembling these vehicles? Many decades later, at a time when I was in near constant communication with Justin at Cobra Stickers, I expressed my desire to have a custom sticker set designed for the MANTA vehicle, and they made it happen for me. Of course, they have since closed shop, but fortunately they transferred their designs to ToyHax now, so it remains available to us.

Out of this poll, I picked the VAMP Mk2. I loved the original, so this was an instant favorite. Plus the repainted Tan Clutch was perfect for desert missions. I also loved the playsets, had them all but the Howitzer. The stackable sandbags and broken wall from the Mortar/Missile Defense sets were awesome! I used them practically every time I played with my Joes.

I remember my brother took my Watchtower toy, heated up an icepick with a lighter, and ran bullet holes across it lol... he was always doing that with the models he built.

I never owned the VAMP, HAL, or MANTA as a kid. I did have all of the smaller battle stations. I went with the BIVUOAC because I think it had the coolest accessories out of all the battle stations.

Had to vote for the VAMP II. I can see the argument for the VAMP + HAL, but it's the same vehicle from 1982.
I had a MANTA as a kid. Always found it frustratingly flimsy and difficult to play with. I like the Watchtower, but I don't know, it's just hard for me to get excited about it. Last edited by Josh Z; 08-15-2023 at 01:45 PM.. |

Yeah, I had 2 or 3 MANTAs and they always fell apart. Riding into battle on a windsurfer might not be the best idea, Joes. I liked the gun though.
