i stopped when Battleforce 2000 and python patrol started douching up the line.
my friends had'em, and i refused to believe that they were officially part of the line. for years I'd always check out the toy section when i was out, and look at them...and if i spotted something stupid *which was often* i'd just shake my head. I remember seeing a neon green figure that came with a spinning top toy, and muttered something along the lines of "that aint firefly." I also remember i guess it was 91, 92 maybe, that a major department store here in Canada was going out of business and they were having a huge sale, my mother for some reason started buying me tons of joe's. they were marked down 75% and my mom was bringing me garbage bags full of'em. that was pretty fun.

'93 - I was in 7th grade. I traded my friend for comic books since I was moving to TX and comic books were easier to pack than a bunch of GI Joes. Still kicking myself for getting rid of them.

Probably in '88-89 , although I continued to play with them for a few more years, I guess I moved on to other things. Thought I was to old for toys, little did I know when I got older I would be wishing to be a child again. Now I'm buying back my childhood and reliving it through my own seeds.

I slacked of in 1989 because I started collecting Batman and other superhero figures. I bought my last Joe in 1990. After that they just got stupid.
I kept collecting toys however until 1993 when I was 18. After graduating high school I decided to sell/give away my whole collection... it was a Manhood/Church thing. Funny thing is about three years later I started collecting again. and totally regretted getting rid of all my stuff. I may never get it all back.

I stopped collecting figs after I bought issue 155. '94?
Reason: I was engaged and needed to stop spending money. Now I have a son and a little more money, so in 2003 we started collecting together. He gets the Joes, I get the Cobras. |
