1990 featured the fewest number of vehicles since the early days of the line. It was also the last year I bought any vehicles in the line, as I had the Dictator, Dominator, Hammer, and Hammerhead. There were some other neat-looking vehicles, as well, such as the Avalanche, General, Hurricane, Rage, and the chrome-plated Night Raven.
My choice for part 1 is the Hammer. I thought it was one of the best-looking vehicles of the line and I enjoyed how grounded in reality it was, compared to some of the other vehicles. The Hammerhead and General were both cool-looking vehicles, as well, and the Rage and Avalanche were also sweet, but I just always loved the Hammer and when I was selling off my G.I. Joe vehicle collection at garage sales, the only vehicle I kept was the Hammer. Now, if vehicle drivers mattered in these polls, I would have gone Hammerhead, because Decimator is one of the coolest figures they released in the 90s. Cobra Rage, thing was a nightmare for the joes, low profile, large main twin cannon, missiles, mine layer and massive missile launcher and three machine guns and could hold between 6 to 7 cobra troops.

yo this is not even a fair fight.
you want people to choose between the hammer, the avalanche, the hammerhead, the dictator, the rage, the hurricane, THE GENERAL? im going with the general, because i love it a lot. i got it for xmas that year, didnt even ask for it. it was there. with metalhead on top. waiting for me under the three. i played the hell out of that thing. so much that it's out to pasture in my attic right now, and i replaced it with one in better condition. i cant sell that thing. i wont throw it away. so it rests. i need to get a replacement cockpit cover for one of the sides, but otherwise my replacement is in great condition. and i too, love that one. |

This was the last year I had any vehicles as a kid--only the Piranha and Locust. The General looked cool but seemed silly to me. The Hammer was a nice, realistic vehicle. But the Rage was the only 1990 vehicle that I really coveted and did get back in the day. Slick design and lots of weapons.

Went with the Hammer, didn't have, dunno if we even got it in the UK as I didn't see too many vehicles late in the line over here, but I think it's cool.

This was the last, great year for Joe. It had moved on to a more futuristic aesthetic, but the Piranha, Hammer, Hammerhead, and Hurricane were all great vehicles.
My brother and I each had a Hammer. It was the only vehicle we had 2 of, and we each got our own on purpose. It was that awesome. My brother also had a Locust, and I had a Hurricane and Destro's Dominator. We had almost all of the figures that year. Neither of us ever wanted the General.

I was out of collecting vehicles by 1990. Never had any of these and don't have strong feelings about them now.
I did own the 1997 repaint of the Rage, though, and that was fairly decent. So I guess I'll go with that one. One of my sons has it now. |

Pretty big fan of all the 1990 vehicle offerings. Hammerhead is on my short list of vehicles I am still thinking about acquiring but I have never had one in hand so I couldn't vote for it.
I had to vote for the Hurricane VTOL. An overlooked Cobra aircraft that is up there with the Night Raven and Rattler. Awesome design, solid color scheme and fills a need in the Cobra Air Force. The 9 year old in me wanted to vote for the Hammer as I loved seeing that vehicle as a kid on the DIC cartoon. I acquired a Hammer back during a collecting phase in college and was somewhat disappointed just because it was so out of scale for Humvee type vehicle. On its own it's a very cool design, great color scheme and features but it looks a bit out of place when it's next to a Mobat or Mauler. |
