And no Justin, it is NOT nearly as rare as the Red Stalker. The purple Ripper is in the 2nd or 3rd tier for Rare Funskools and I'd imagine it is worth around $1000.00-$1500.00 packaged. The Red Stalker would run you another grand or so easy if one were to surface. To my knowledge only 4-5 Red Stalkers exist in collections. Compared to the Ripper which I've personally owned over 5 of them in my life.
Either way it is a great chance for someone to own one of the nicest Funskool pieces out there.

We shall soon see what he considers a "reasonable best offer" for that Ripper. I personally think $1k is top end for that piece, but all it takes is one person willing to pay more. I think the last Ripper I saw sell went in the $800 range but it's been a while so I may be wrong.
Drew is right (as if there was any doubt when Funskool is the topic) - red Buzzer and purple Ripper are pretty rare but not in the same league as red Stalker or the blue Hawk or Short Fuze. But if those three are top tier and Buzzer/Ripper are third tier, who's the second tier? Blue Bludd and who else?

After thinking about it Dan I guess I do consider him to be in the Tier 2 category. Not sure how many tier's there are beyond 2 really but here is what I think have been the toughest to find or most sought after:
Tier 1: Blue Hawk (packaged with Orange/Yellow MMS) Gung Ho olive drab (packaged with early random vehicle) Red Stalker Blue Short Fuse "Commando Force" figures (repainted Baroness, yellow Lady Jaye etc.) There maybe some other unknowns out there that were packaged in vehicles that will surface at some point. Tier 2: Red Buzzer (blonde or black hair, was packaged both ways) Red/Yellow Beach Head Blue/Yellow Major Bludd Purple Ripper Portrait card early series figures (Zandar, Buzzer, Ripper, African American Iceberg, Beach Head, Chuckles etc.) Tier 3: Emerald Zap Blue Snake Eyes Clutch-light or dark green, also possible variant with different head Sgt. Smasher Yellow Torpedo Reverse Tattoo Gung Ho Street Hawk (Snake Eyes) Keep in mind that this list is by rarity but also by variation. A lot of the "regular" colored Funskool figures are by far harder to find but may not cost as much on the secondary market (examples are African American Iceberg, Black Snake Eyes etc.). |

kshelor,
To answer your earlier question in the framework of Drew's tier structure, I think the vehicle pack-ins (I assume you mean orange Blaster/copper Psyche Out/gold boots Spearhead) are tier two in terms of difficulty to find but in tier 3 price-wise. You don't see them pop up all that often and they typically bring a couple hundred bucks each when they do.

I suspect that there are a lot of figures that Funskool produced in the mid '90's (Think '95/'97 timeline) that are actually rarer than they would appear since the molds were returned to Hasbro before there were multiple production runs. Rock and Roll likely falls into this category and maybe a few others, too.
