I am able to purchase a USS Flagg right now for $250. The guy tells me it is probably 95% complete. what do you think, I can't really tell from the pics? Of course I really don't know what I'm looking at either, when I was a kid no one I knew had one of these, they where to expensive.

It's hard to tell but I don't see these parts in the pics:
Fantail Deck Railing Engine cover for Tow Vehicle Tow Hook for Tow Vehicle Elevator Support (It's a small thin piece of plastic that looks like it's window molding instead of for a Joe vehicle) I can't tell if it has the mast cap or the crane's engine cover. Also the door on the larger piece (By the crane) is either just un hooked or has broken pegs since it's not on the hatch opening That said, it's still about $30 cheaper than the one I bought and it was missing 8 parts (But there wasn't the amount of yellowing that this one has) |

Id say NO WAY. There is way too much yellowing on the parts. Just so you know, all the parts other than the deck are meant to be white.
Dont do it

Hmmm.......There is a lot of yellowing going on there. For me, I would say no. But if you think the deal is fair, go for it.

Four of my favorite posters in front of me (LL, Shogi, Rob [the voice of reason, as always], and Delta Dan), I say go for it ONLY if you don't mind spray painting the yellowed parts. If so, no good, Brah, no good.

I also read in a post here somewhere that you can take a 30% peroxide mixture and undo the yellowing. There was a tutorial on it either here on on another site with the link posted here.
Seemed to be a long process, but it did the trick. Problem is, the Flagg has a $hit load of pieces... it may take a very long time to do. But, if you have the patience and want a pristine Flagg, that's the way to go. Hell, I'd take a yellow Flagg... As far as the missing pieces go, I haven't a clue... but I see Flagg parts for sale on evilbay all the time for (sometimes) decent prices. And additionally, think about the fact that this is his best shot at getting a Flagg at a decent price. Most of the eBay auctions have shipping alone set at either $100 - $150 which jack the price way up in just about every case. Last edited by Lantern_Lad; 01-26-2009 at 02:23 AM.. |
