I know it's just my opinion, but if you live near to some serious collectors, why don't you just grab the figs and stuff for a weekend till you photo 'em? After that you can send them back to the owners.
I don't know too much how this works for you, so don't take it as an offense, but for me this is a bit more logical. |

I tell my wife all the time I am scaling back my buying, but the packages keep rolling in. I did just sell a bunch of stuff so that is keeping her at bay, but its only a matter of time before i have a problem on my hands.

My wife is awesome! As long as the bills and mortgage are paid she could care less. About 6 months ago she even went to the store with me and helped me load my MISB Defiant and MIB Flagg into the van. She's the best!

Whenever I buy a bunch of Joes I tell my wife, "Baby, do you know how much of a return I can get back for these guys here?! I'm gonna hold out a few months and then ebay'em!" She falls for it everytime.

You know I've said it before and I'll say it again............... I don't mean to sound like an a-hole, and I KNOW this is going to come across like that no matter what, but you guy need to listen to me and NOT tell your old ladies what you are doing!! :( Now here is where it sounds stupid - I've been married twice now, and am working on probably my third (see, told ya it would sound stupid ). My first was cool w/ the collecting and supported it, but she did her own thing too. All was cool till we split, and then she wanted HALF of what I had spent on collecting (not just toys and comic stuff, but guns and car stuff too). I told her fine, as long as I got HALF of her stuff, and just as soon as she went over and emptied HALF that jewelry box I had helped fill too over the years. Needless to say, I got to keep all my stuff in the end and gave up NO money. My second did NOT support what I was doing and had NO idea how much I was spending either. :( It was like a nightmare running and hiding it all from her, plus I had to stash everything (sh*t stashed in my big gun safe (toys we're talking here in a gun safe!! :( ), sh*t stashed in my hot rod I kept in the garage, sh*t hidden at my parent's house, and so on). It was all just one big pain in the arse, and worst part was I could not enjoy any of it, or had to wait until she was not around. :( So what I am getting at is a couple of things - 1. Most importantly and obviously is do NOT spend beyond your means! This is a hobby and we are adults buying TOYS after all. Don't over do it, and you won't get popped! 2. Make sure SHE has something too, and then try and keep it on an even keel between the two of you. 3. Everyone needs to have SOMETHING, but what I have found most important too, and this is not just w/ the collecting but everything else in a relationship, you each need to have your OWN thing, and each also need to RESPECT each other's thing AND privacy about it too. Now don't get me wrong, if you're breaking the bank and you can't eat or keep the lights on b/c of your plastic crack (toys ) addiction, THAT'S a problem, but if you're just spending YOUR extra dough on something you enjoy, SHE needs to respect that too. Being open and honest in a relationship is crucial, DON'T get me wrong. But having your own thing outside of the two of you and respecting that for each other is just as important, as long as one does not over ride the other. Again, trust me, I've done it both ways, this is where I KNOW what I am talking about. My current old lady? She's cool with it, but she knows I also take care of my two kids I pay child support on (a HUGE amount of our income :( ), she has all she want's w/ in reason, and then there is what's left I spend on my junk. It's all out there, and she keeps her mouth shut about it. Hell, she even hunts for me when she knows I am after something. Now THAT is the ticket and a good woman! .
