They should, but they don't always want to. The rods on mine are fairly rough surfaced (possibly minor corrosion), and won't come out. By contrast the ones on my first Defiant came out with no problems. I'm probably going to have to oil these ones to get them to slide. Any suggestions as to what I should use? I don't want to damage the doors.

I used white lightning bike lube to pull out my rods. It is a liquid wax that will slip into all the nooks and crannies. Dries in seconds and then acts like a wax and will not hurt the plastic. You can also easily wipe it off after it drys.

Have you tried a magic eraser? I used one on my shuttles (both crusader and defiant) and it took those blue marks (and any other ones) right off. I didn't use them on the crusader's doors, just the bright white parts of the shuttles. Best of luck in your restoration.

Good lord....where did you have this stored? It will be awesome to see you bring it back! I just learned about the oxiclean trick from this thread...I have soaked a vintage skystriker in it twice now and it is loosing its yellow! You might want to try it!

Lol, It was sitting in the basement in pretty much the sam spot since 2000. It was for a few years under a vent that was above it. The HVAC system used to have a Humidifier on it, I stopped using it a few year back because of mold in the vents. Thanks for the Tip, I will def try it. I had a Rolling Thunder I restored a few years back. I had used a few products like Opti Coat cleaner and other High end products that restores plastics and such, even coat it and used a light buffer on it . Came out great ,where I worked at a few years ago we had a Vintage toy show, somehow it disappeared and with Bugg, Conquest x-30 and bunch of figures. I lost interest after that in collecting for a while. The sad part it was a secure area, with cameras and such. Something we did for years. The sad part is I lost my Space 1999 Product enterprise Eagles, and those cost a mint to replace, hopefully they will be released again soon.
