I don't envy you. It took me so long to restore my Terrordrome I'm taking a break from restoring for a while. It will take a long time to finish your project the right way. But, will be worth it in the end.

Those big items (Flagg,Defiant,Drome) can certainly be overwhelming to restore. Getting them clean takes forever, then part finding etc.

Thanks man!! To get the rods out to take the doors off, the rods only come out one end, youll see the other end is closed off. If you can wedge the end of a small flat head screw driver between the end of the rod and the inside of the flange you can tap the side of the screw driver with a hammer to start sliding the rod out. Once the other end of the rod is sticking out pull it out with pliars. Make sure you do this on a soft surface, support the blue door with a pillow or folded blanket because once free it will fall and they are very fragile. |

The cleaning part is true. The doors to the launch tower I spraded off and that took some of the dirt off but then there was a bunch of grime! I had to hand scrub those and still had to soak it in oxiclean for a day. NOW, they look nice!

Thanks. I'm excited to see how it turns out in the end. Hope your Terror Drome turns out nice when you get it done. Finding parts aren't hard, finding good clean parts that have little to now yellowing is the B***H!

I scrubbed every nook and cranny on my Defiant with a toothbrush................... tons of fun that was.

Be really careful attaching the guns to them as well; the bits on the doors that they clip into are REALLY delicate. |

Seconded, I have guns that wont stay on because that blue plastic is so brittle. It is unforgiving, you stress it the wrong way and CRACK.

It is so true about the plastic being so brittle PV. My heart races everytime I touch it. Sadly, I've already had a small end break off. But it was a clean break and isn't to noticable. Still, it's a stress trying to handle it with care.

Yeah its a pain to handle the doors. Also, you dont need oil to pull out the rods, they should still slide out.
