Not a bad idea! ^
They could save on script writers, voice talent, etc and just re-animate the old episodes. |

many of the stories just don't hold up well over time. i rewatched the series a ways back and while i loved it on an emotional level, many of the stories were just bonkers and hard to sit through now.

I've thought many times that it would be fun to see the episodes reanimated with modern, slick animation. The 1987 movie and a handful of episodes have great animation quality, but most of them could use improvement.
I think the vast majority of stories hold up very well and, more importantly, the characterization and dialogue is far superior to what we get now even in mainstream Hollywood movies. It's on par with the original Star Wars and Indiana Jones trilogies on the character and dialogue levels. Today we get dumbed-down action movies with meaningless, witless dialogue from directors like Michael Bay which don't hold a candle to the writing quality of Sunbow G.I. Joe. There is certainly virtually no other 1980s cartoon which holds up to modern storytelling and intellectual standards as well as Sunbow G.I. Joe. |

LOL. You're right. But that's because we're grown ups now. I mainly meant for the kids. My kids watch the 80's ARAH Joe cartoons and love them.

Not really... My kids watch them with me but if they were to discover them on their own, wouldn't have made it very far in the series. Cartoons today have much better story arcs to them most of the vintage stuff we love. Sounds silly my nick avatar series is a far more compelling series that uses humor for a purpose most of the time cd. for the sake of being silly, in my opinion. It has it's moments as well... But the overall series had far superior story arc and much more compelling to watch. We view the vintage series through an emotional filter that kids today just don't relate to. Heck, nick TMNT is a far better toon as well with its style, characters and use of humor, etc despite itself. Of course this is all subjective on my part as are all reviews. I love the vintage stuff but it's just hard to sit through. Try as I may, I could not sit through a rewatch of MOTU or voltron either and I was crazy about all those series as a kid. Now, I just think we must have been a much more childish generation.

Even after the Sunbow animated G.I. Joe cartoon was done, and DiC was brought in for the second series in 1989, Sunbow kept the contract to animate the commercials. That's why the commercials in the late 80s are vastly better than the lackluster DiC cartoon. |

The "Catalogs and offers" section has been completely upgraded!
Dozens of new catalogs and offers have been added to the 3DJoes print section! We have now documented almost every single catalog and offer from 1982-1994, thanks to a huge loan from Tim Dz. Some of these have never before been documented! Additionally, we revised all of the large pieces adding image galleries that allow you to read every bit of copy and marvel at all of the illustration and photography. Head on over to the catalogs and offers page and get ready for hours of nostalgia! Catalogs and offers - 3DJOES
