At this point in the comics, I think they were somewhat all together with Destro being the leader.

The Thunderclap has arrived, and with that the 1989 vehicle archive is complete!
Thunderclap - 3DJOES The Thunderclap is three vehicles in one, each with their own defense systems! The multi-extendable, high-powered, battlefield “annihilator” cannon is the centerpiece of this powerhouse, while the the tractor provides propulsion and radar jamming, and the trailer enables infrared targeting and armament discharge. We'll be back next weekend with an even more thunderous conclusion to the 1989 Vehicle Archive. In the meantime, it's time to ship some books! |

Collecting The Art Of G.I. Joe Volume 4 Is Now Shipping! - HissTank.com
Quote:
Hello loyal backers,
Volume 4 has arrived and the offset lithograph interiors look incredible! Check out this Facebook Live video for a quick review. We are shipping all Volume 4 orders this week. Greg, our resident Master Packer, packed up 300+ books in less than 48 hours. He's feeling pretty good about that... Master Packer's moment of Zen We are proud to say that all 650 copies of Volume 1 and Volume 2 have SOLD OUT!!! As we mentioned in the last update: we are currently reprinting Volumes 1 and 2 with some improvements. These are smaller orders, so they are still digital interiors like the originals. These new prints will be marked second print and third print respectively, will feature revised layouts to reflect the evolution of the series, and volume 2 will even feature some additional artwork! Check out the Volume 1 and Volume 2 pages on 3DJoes to see the latest (scroll down to the Option 2: Accufoil Softcover slideshow to see every page of these new prints). Now that the dust has settled on this campaign, here's the financial update: Kickstarter paid out $28.910 after subtracting their fees. Here's what we've spent to fulfill all backer orders and keep these books in print for G.I.Joe fans both old and new: $20,681.75 for V4 (1000qty) and 5 new posters, $714.41 for 250 Poster tubes, $497.40 for 500 Book boxes, $400 for poster storage racks, $55.56 for shipping labels, ~$1,500 on poster shipping, $3,293 for the Volume 1 reprint (600qty), $3,944 for the Volume 2 reprint (600qty), $164.10 for book bags and boards, $126.79 for book packing materials (ink, tape, newsprint), and ~$3,500 for book shipping. We spent $35,872.41 total. That's $6,962.41 over what we raised! So, why did we do this? We think it's vitally important to keep this series in print, to help G.I.Joe fans both old and new connect with the unsurpassed artwork of G.I.Joe: A Real American Hero. We hope you love your new books, and that you show them off to friends, family, and like-minded fans of G.I.Joe! We'll keep these books in print, and we'll keep pushing forward to 1994. Thank you all for helping us get there! Carson |

Awesome, thanks guys for backing!!!
In other news: In 1987 Hasbro released the mail order Steel Brigade figure, which allowed collectors to name their own Joe and assign his specialties, training, traits, abilities, and personality. In 2017 Max Hagedorn created the Steel Brigade filecard template, allowing collectors to once again create their own Joe characters! The Rolling Thunder has arrived, and with that the 1988 vehicle archive is complete!
Rolling Thunder - 3DJOES The Rolling Thunder is one of the largest G.I. Joe vehicles ever. When fully extended, it measures over 3 feet in length! Within its heavily armed shell lies two Lightning Rockets packed with cluster bombs and a deployable six-wheeled all terrain scout vehicle (ATSV). Once again, this page was a huge team effort. Thanks to Kris at the Yo Joe Outlet Center for the pristine Rolling Thunder, and to Tim Dzieciatkowski and Ben Thomas for their help with documentation and captions. Be sure to click through the detailed image gallery! |

For those of you interested in the history of this toy, be sure to scroll down for the Creator Commentary, where Guy Cassaday (R+D designer) discusses his inspiration for the Rolling Thunder, a Marine APC from the 1986 film, Aliens. He also discusses the juxtaposition of Moms protesting outside of Hasbro while he's inside developing "a toy of mass destruction." Thanks for the interview, Guy Cassaday!!!!
