So I picked up a lot of five carded figures today and one was a Crazy Legs on an explosion backed card. The other four all from 87 all had the full figure list card backs but a couple were Fridge offers. What were the different card variations and were the explosive backs the hardest to find now a days? Also did the explosive backs appear every year?

No, Explosion Backs were only available in 1983 and 1987... and only on a limited number of figures.
I believe in 1983 it was only on the 1st 12 after they were remade with swivel arms. Only a few were released in 1987 YOJOE.COM | Cardback Archive Explosion Backs are by far the hardest to find...especially if you're after a MOC figure. |

The Explosion backs in 1987 were only on a few figures, maybe 8 and they were available in late 1986. I remember going to my TRU in December of 1986 and being shocked to find new figures early. They didn't usually start showing up in January/February. You have a hard to find cardback.

Any idea on the value of this explosion back? The only 87 I could find being sold was a Law & Order from a couple years back and it went for $300 and appeared to be in about the same condition as mine?

Earlier this year I paid $80 for an Explosion Back Crystal Ball.
I would say expect between $75 and $150... be happy for $200+ |

Also, sold a 1983 MOC explosion back Cobra Commander this year for $2,000. Those are extremely rare. I think there's only two graded out there.
