They do, I got mine a few weeks ago. But I understand the desire to own and authentic one. Plus the repro doesn't come with the file card holder, but I am very happy with the quality of my repro.

The thing with this set that I really like from a collector stand point is that IMO out of any of the "standard production stuff" it's the rarest simply due to the nature of what it is. It's a must have for any completist and it was a 1st year release item. If you look at any kind of checklist to see if you have "Everything" from '82 it's on there. Yes there are some who say "It's cardboard!", but thats what makes it so collectable. That's why I think it's really cool and fascinating. Plus, I think it displays well :-)
As far as the D & J toys version I hear it's a year and a half to two year wait to get one. I checked Ebay the other day and see that one actually sold for $250 + $60 shipping which I think is just crazy for a "Reproduction". I'm sure it's real nice and I wouldn't mind having one myself, but it's still not the "Real Thing". Alex - Those pics are awesome! Thanks for posting. I am pulling the trigger for this one. I hope it's as nice as the pics look/seller says. They were not as high res as the ones you posted. I think the price is fair and will go real well with the other pieces I have to make a complete unit. I will still be missing the box, but I think I can live with that. The boxes can be a pain to store and I haven't really been a box collector (at least so far) :-) |
