Or do you?
For all you troop buildiers out there. Do you keep track of which packs you get the various figures in? For example: Crimson Guard You can get a CG from the comic pack, the TRU SRO pack, and 4 of them in the 5-pack, as well as a single guard. So that's a total of 7 CG figures. How do you indicate which one came from which pack? Or do you not care? I'm pretty OCD about keeping track of what figures I've purchased, and I use YOJOE's listing to keep track of what versions I have. They list each of the CGs seperately (except for the 5-pack). So if you guys keep track seperately, how do you indicate? It's easy enough if you don't display 'em, but if you display 'em how to you indicate which is which? Or do you even care?

Right now all of mine are MOC until my son is old enough to play with them. When he is old enough, i will probably try to keep them all separate in tackle boxes as best i can. I imagine my son will mess them up anyway, but i will try...lol

really its all memory. but most everything has some diversity to it to differentiate it. take your example
single carded CG had a black face mask, Comic pack had a black face mask but the helmet came off, TRU pack had a silver mask. |

I have a spreadsheet that keeps track of all my figures, with information on how the figure was packaged and short descriptions about appearance. Other than that, it's just memory.

to use the cg's as an example, each have different appearances.
single pack - black mask comic pack - removable helmet SRO - gold chest SRO - silver eye slit 5 pack - silver masks 5 pack - silver chest so, they inherently differentiate themselves. after you have identified those differences, it is either an issue of memory or referencing them against a created spreadsheet or yojoe. other than that, there is nothing you can do. of course, how they were released has no bearing to me when they are displayed, though you could set them up in an order that identifies how they were released i.e. display the comic pack CG with the Scarface Officer so you know they came together, the SRO CG's with the red Cobra Commander, etc, etc. as far as Cobra Troopers, you display the red symbol troop with the rest of the figures that came in the 5 pack, but keep the wave 2 silver symbol trooper arranged with the rest of the wave 2 figures. of course, this would separate your army builders, but I am assuming if you are so OCD about how the figures were released you'd be more interested in displaying them with what figures they were released and not in a grouped manner with like figures. That's a weird question. Like Zarana said though, they're all different. For whatever reason you need to tell them apart (for reselling them maybe), yojoe would be the way to go. I personally don't care once I have mine outta the package. I just like 'em all to be uniform. Too many variations begin to look tacky. As for CG's, right now I have 20 or so of the black-masked I'd like to trade for the preferred silver-masked.

as far as the question, I had to look up yojoe millions of times because of all the repaints from the ARAH, GvsC...etc. its a good reference site.

Love YoJoe. I have a spreadsheet with all the information on it, how much bought it, etc..
Currently have ziplock bags with labels of who/what the figures are, so can keep any of the accessories with the right figures if don't have 'em all displayed. Eventually will have tackle box containers, still labeled. So was wondering how people kept track of where each one came from, so when no longer displaying can put it back where it belongs. It's not necessarily about reselling, I'm just very OCD about keeping things organized: right people with right accessories, etc..
