Nothing exciting? I am envious of that CC, cobra trooper and white storm shadow. Nice haul.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I was excited by all of it! I more meant nothing rare like a Tiger Force Outback or anything. But I should have remembered where I was I guess. A pure white Storm Shadow is always a joy to look at, especially as he's perfect otherwise too. Perfect Cobra emblem, no paint wear. Like he's never been played with. Only thing rough is the katana handle, but I have a whole other set of his weapons I bought on ebay for just such an occasion.

Hey guys, thought you might appreciate this pic of a recent haul. Someone's personal collection from childhood, which luckily for me they kept very good care of! Got to love a kid who takes care of their toys. They're all great, the only broken piece is Bazooka's crotch. I have another Bazooka with a much worse paint job on his jersey so he'll be donating his. All complete other than one of Grunt's rifles (I have a spare), Mutt's muzzle, and Roadblock has a stunted rifle (again, I have another luckily). Not pictured are a complete F.A.N.G., Ferret, A.W.E. Striker, Chameleon for Zartan and RAM Cycle to go with Quarrel. Nothing majorly rare or exciting, but some great figures and most are practically mint too.
The paint on the CG looks great and the color on your SS is nice. |

Picked up a MISB Mega Marines Monster Blaster APC - a vehicle I never had as a kid. I do have the 2004 BAT Transport which is the same mold and think it's a great vehicle. I pretty much scrapped my original plan of what I was wanting to purchase for remaining 90s vehicles lol. The Patriot, Earthquake, Brawler are all out - the Parasite I am on the fence about because I do want another Cobra troop carrier and I plan on getting a Badger, Paralyzer and Scorpion.
I cannot believe how expensive 1994 Vipers are. Seems like the price really took off over the past year. I am trying to find a few 90s Cobra figures to army build and am thinking of going the MOC route for the most part. Flak-Viper and Heat-Viper both seem to be fairly common and at a decent price point. Also the 94 Cobra Scorpion jeep does not seem as common as I thought it would be. I am also compiling my list of new mold figures I need to purchase - such a vicious cycle lol. |

Honestly it feels like from 91-94 it was almost a different toyline. How the vehicles were actually made, the designs, concepts and colors are all so different - I would say that 1990 was the last year that the vehicle designs were seamless with the earlier years. The part of me that prefers the military realism as a collector has a hard time with the part of me who grew up on the line in the 90s.

It all began before then, in a sense. The movie started the shift into more fantastical characters rather than more or less purely military. I often wonder how the line would have faired if, even releasing the same figures, they hadn't veered quite so much into the neon hues. I know it was all the rage but so many of the vehicles and figures from 91 onwards would look really good, even great, with a paint job more grounded in reality. There were some great sculpts but too often they had lazy paint application, and what was there was some crazy combination of colours that was just totally unnecessary. There were some bright points even after 91, but in the main it had well and truly lost it's way by then.
