Why Did I do That??? GI Joe FML Style

Do you ever wonder why we did some of the things we did growing up to our toys like give them away, garage sales or worse more like what I am talking about totally destroy them with firecrackers and outdoor missions sandbox simulated Deaths...

And Now We want to track down some of the toys we once had or always wanted as kids...

This is GI Joe FML Style where you Post Either the stupid things you did in the past with your Joes or Stuff you have done when recollecting like breaking a rare figure when replacing it's O-ring...

My friend who I played with as a kid still talks about putting his Airtight Hostile Environment figure in the wet concrete of his housing addition and when it sunk getting his mom to ask the guy to look for it with a shovel...A few pokes and prods and the airtight was lost forever in a concrete abyss below the house...My friend has moved on but still thinks about the figure beneath the Lost Forever...

Anyway lets hear all the sad stories of Joes MIA or just Total FML Moments and hopefully some can feel a little better...

I was very Rough on My toys as a kid and never kept the right accessories with the correct figure...Almost always played outside with them and even intentionally destroyed them by cutting off an arm etc...

I am always surprised nowadays when I see so many original collections very well taken care of and with all their original accessories...

Now that I am buying back many figures I am taking better care of them but still have broken a few dukes and steeler crotches when replacing O-rings...Is there some figures that are a lot more fragile or easier to break...I seem to find many tiger force sky strikers all with cracked elbows etc...

Some kids must have been down right OCD about their joes...

I always tried to take care of my figs and I had a lot of them, but from all different toylines. I tried to keep them all in scale, at least. Like, i wouldn't have He_Man showing up in my Star Wars adventures or have my Super heroes fighting the Joes, but Star Wars/Joes/Crystar/Steel Monsters all took part in the same play.

I do remember my straight arm Stalker's knee cracked apart eventually and I took 2 pen clips (the clip part of a pen, duh) and made a makeshift splint with some tape. It was always a shame that Stalker always had a bum leg on adventures, but he never stopped fighting for freedom whenever there was trouble!

Back in the day I was putting firecrackers up Battle Armor Cobra Commander's torso but he never really exploded, just got a little black...I got so frustrated that he wouldn't die (I really hated that version) that I eventually just held a lighter to him.....I still refuse to get a good version of that figure to this day (Except for the 25th one, that one I love for some odd reason )

As for breaking things now:

When I started recollecting back in 2003 or so, I had a Zartan or Hooded Cobra Commander (I forget which) that I just had to have sitting on the Ferret. As soon as I pushed him down on the seat, his crotch broke clean off.

about 5 years ago or so I worked out a trade for some Starduster helmets. The first one I tried to put on my figure had shrunk over time and was a little too small now.....it cracked down the middle and is barely holding together now (Thankfully I had two more helmets to use)

Oh yeah, I unfortunately lost many a Joe to shenanigans back in the day. Firecrackers as incoming mortars, target practice with the ol' BB gun, failed paratrooper missions throwing them off the roof of our house with a produce bag tied on to em'.

Yeah.....gawdammit.

Reminds me of the first time I got Crazylegs. X-Mas morning he took a dive off a second story bannister and his chute never deployed (I was disappointed he didn't come with a real parachute) anyway, his arm broke off right at the swivel joint.
