I posted part of this in the "How old are you?" thread in the General Discussion area, but wanted to try it out here just to see if a miracle was possible....
Remember those funny pen/markers that when you wrote on paper they would write in silver but had a red (or blue or purple or green) border/outline that showed up? We used these a ton in Jr High (1982/83 to 1984/85 for me) and yes the girls were the ones who used them most, but artists like me used them as well. Anyway, I used these pens to mark my Joes (especially ones with black boots) so I would know which ones were mine when I played with friends. I sold most of my Joe collection off to Intergalactic Trading in Orlando Florida back in '89/'90 as well as the occasional trade with some buddies. Here is where the request comes in. If you find Joes with silver under one or both feet and maybe some with silver on top of red residue (i had mostly red accent pens) on white or light colored feet, those could very well have been mine. Let me know if you find one! I'd love to bring a joe or 2 back home! (if you would be willing to sell that is). Ok, I know this is a stretch, but I'll try anything once. Oh yeah, and I wrote "AK" under my vehicles too! (like the VAMP) in silver mostly until those pens went out of style, then I used Sharpies (or the like). Thanks for listening!

Oh and if any of you happen to have a Star Wars AT-ST with either scott or SP with black marker under the top hatch, it's mine!
Funny story, Years ago I traded said AT-ST to a friend of mine in school. Then a year or so later I was at my cousin's house on the other side of town and his neighbor had a bunch of star wars toys. We were playing with them and I looked at the hatch on his AT-ST. Lo and behold, there was my mark! I didn't get to have the toy back but I wouldn't expect the guy to give to me anyway |

I'd say keep an eye out for my ARAH collection from when I was a kid, but I know I smashed every single one of them under falling bricks when I was 13... thanks to the appearance of the 25th line, I have no regrets to this day!

Some kid stole my Torpedo by burying him in the sand during recess and then went and recovered him after school (as I found out through a mutual friend).
I told my dad about it. He gathered up all of my figures and started applying nail polish to their butts in the form of little red dots. Keep in mind, he's the funniest guy I know, but I'm still not sure if he thought he was thwarting dishonest kids or just messing w/ me. However, nobody would ever successfully steal any of my Joes again. Maybe it had something to do w/ the fact that they all looked like they were granted medical leave. |
