So I found this tent from my youth in my parents' basement but I can't find any info about it through online searches. I'm hoping the experts here can help me out. The box is dated 1983 and the item is called a "Trooper Dome Fun Hut" (price tag says $21.99). I've been going through a purge lately of all my old toys (Joes, Transformers, He-Man stuff) to make ends meet and I'm interested in learning if this item has any value to it. It measures 52" X 52" and fits two kids in it with ease. I've tried uploading pics, but they failed for some reason.
Any info about the collectibility of this would be appreciated. Thanks |

Just thought I'd add a link to some photos. Has anybody seen this before?

hmm, never seen it before and it's not on Yojoe or Joeintel. I'd say you have something there.

If this was your item and you were trying to get an idea of value/worth, where would you go? I've got a collector friend doing some research, but I'm really excited that this seems to be a rare find. I've looked through tons of scans from old Sears and JC Penney catalogs and found GI Joe tents from the early 80s, but none that match this one. It was made by Outdoor Venture Corporation out of Stearns, KY. They only make military stuff for the Dept. of Defense now.

what part of ohio? I work at a vintage toy store in Cleveland. But I could set you up with a collector in about anywhere in ohio. also, p.m. mr. pawn. he buys non toy related stuff all the time. look at his collection.

This doesn't really help but here was a tariff ruling I found for it. Might be able to gain some type of information from there?

Its a neat item, and the fact that you've still got the box, paper work, and item in fair shape are all working in your favor.
What's going to hamper you is the fact that it's not a "TOY", so your market is rather small. I would expect the tent to sell for around $20. Maybe $100 if you could get all 5 of the major non-toy GI Joe collectors bidding against each other for it. |
