Hi all from the uk, new to the forum
ive recently come into the possession of the GI JOE thunderclap toy with long range x 2. All boxed in mint condition. one box has been opened previously but all separated bits are bagged and never been opened, including the manuals. Other item seems to have never been opened. So my question. Is this toy worth anything and is there anyone in the uk that would want this. ie a collector or vintage toy store. Thanks and regards Pie |

I am not 100% sure but an opened complete Thunderclap is about $150-$200... A sealed mint box is between $260-$300.. Really depends on condition.

My Thunderclap is actually a international copy as well. It is opened and I am pretty sure there is no differences between releases.

The sealed one should bring $250US or so. The opened one might get $150US to the right buyer. Loose/complete ones generally sell for $75US or so.
And there are some Thunderclaps that were released in the UK that are color variants to the US version. The differences are subtle, but they're different nonetheless. The thing is, not all UK Thunderclaps are variants - some are the same as the US version - kind of like it is with the Rolling Thunder.

It cost me lots of time at my medical center to get rid of my thunderclap. It was painful and unbearable, but glad its finally gone.... Oh you mean the toy......... I agree with the $300 sealed comment. However, with any toy, it all matters what someone is willing to pay at the time you sell it

The European version is identical quality to the US one. Actually i'm gonna go one further and suggest AT LEAST identical.... European G.I.Joe vehicles often had better quality stickers, and at least as good a quality plastic.
Which version did you get? 1) US Version? 2) Canadian version, which was imported into the UK (not by Hasbro) at some point in the early 90s? 3) Or the euro box version? (there's maybe 2-3 slight variations...as they split European multilingual boxes into different regions) The euro packaged version also has different artwork, and a very different box layout, including a full color diorama photo, with background, on the back of the box, and full color printing all around. It's pretty collectible. I think bloodforthebaron is one uk based action force/gi joe site? The downside of exporting is that Parcelforce's rates have gotten steep, esp on 'oversized' packages...you may want to look at other couriers and see if they ship to say the US if you aren't able to shift it within Europe. |

And more importantly, will regular antibiotics cure the Thunderclap?

Thanks for your replies.
This is not something i collect so therefore i will not be looking to keep hold of the items. I came into them by no action of my own. Any direction on a purchaser in the uk would be helpful as sending them to the usa will likely be silly money and put a buyer off Last edited by pie; 07-07-2013 at 01:38 PM.. |
