Anyone else had this happen to their figures?

The other day, I tried putting my V1 Storm Shadow on a figure stand, and his foot fuckin' sploded! Tiny bits everywhere! I managed to glue the big chunks back on and chalked it up to piece of mind; don't trust Joe stands! Then,a couple days later, I tried moving his arm, and it seemed stuck. I tried to force it, and it fuckin' sploded! Then the other one! And the torso cracked and chipped, too! What the hell!? Is this some sign of age, 'cause I've got toys older than this and I've never had that happen, let alone ever heard of it. Is it something specific to white-plastic figures? Is it specific to hard to replace figures I really love? What gives?

Are you referring to the 1984 original version 1 Storm Shadow? If so this happens allot with figures from that era. The old figures were made with plastic that contained a high level of petroleum. This was why they smoked and turned black when burned, the new modern figure just melt. Over time, with the expansion and contraction of the plastic do to climate change, the plastic becomes brittle and can and does fall apart. I have had several figures fall apart in my hands and I know of others whom have experienced the same problem. It is not one specific figure, just the old 1982 to 2000 figures. The later released figure were made out of PVC based plastic that does not become as brittle and remains flexible.

Who'd a thunk 30 year old pieces of plastic weren't indestructible?

That happened to my 84 Zartan. His one boot exploded and then I tried on another and that exploded. I was using his correct stand too. Also a Cutter figure of mine knee seemed stuck so I moved it and the thing broke right off. I guess they just get brittle.

Some of my 82 figures had this happen in a zip lock bag. Opened it up one day and Stalker's leg was broken in half.
