Anyone got a good way to flatten / straighten the blades on a ARAH era Dragonfly chopper that "droop" a little?
I picked up a sweet DF on trade from another 'Tanker here, but I just want to try and give it's blades a little "pick me up" if you will w/o damaging them. I currently have them off the chopper, upside down on a flat surface with small amount of wight on the center of them trying to just give them a little back a little shape. Anybody got any better way to do it, WITHOUT using heat (using heat worries me on plastic stuff, especially vintage hard to replace stuff like this :() Thanks - Eric

How much do they droop? A little bend would actually look more natural.
Honestly, though, every now and then I take a helicopter from my display and just let it hang upside down for several weeks or even months, or maybe sit it on a table upside down with some books holding down the blades. I like a little droop but I've seen too many Joe choppers with some pretty severe bendage... I can't think of any other way to prevent this. You're right not to use heat - I mean, hot water would be okay on some plastics, but it doesn't seem to work on the older RAH plastic they used. I wouldn't dare use anything more hot than just boiled water on any of my toys...

I guess they're really not that far off from this -
YOJOE.COM | Assault Copter Dragonfly [XH-1] I don't know, I mean I KNOW a little droop looks natural like the real deal, I guess I just wanted them a little more rigid was all.

i hang it from rubber bands until it stays better. usually from a wire shelf in my storage. I have tried with wire... but the give that rubber bands have seam to help the blades bend more than hurt them

I like this idea... I think I might try this. Not sure it would work with something like the Tomahawk though, which is also prone to bending. Well, I suppose you could use more rubber bands...

yeah. I actually do tomahawk's with an embroidery ring (if you take them apart... you got two pieces for this) so they bend back more even. I then hang the rings with rubber bands. a bit tedious, but what part of restoring these things aren't

Boil up a kettle and pour the water in a pan large enough to hold the blades, stick the blaes in for about 30 seconds (Carefully) then remove and try and bend back to their original shape. the important bit is to run them under a cold tap afterwards to stiffwen them up (Just like metal).

Fair point, from the look of the dragonfly in the picture it looks like it's not been discoloured also the blades are made from a softer plastic. Definitely not a good idea on the main body sections in most cases, the uv may have made it brittle.
