Comparing the card backs from ARAH and the 25th Ann. line to PoC, I would have to say that I don't care for the PoC style much. I liked seeing what figures were in the wave and trying to determine who was coming next by seeing the grayed in figure shadows.
Plus I would like to see a description of the accessories that come with the figures. It could just be a small insert similar to the blueprints that come with the vehicles. Any thoughts?

i agree, at least having pics of the other figures in the wave would be nice. a weapons description would be cool, too.

Yes, on all accounts. And it's something I've thought about several times. I have wished for the very same things you listed above. Not only that, but I've wondered why do they even bother with a "bio" or "profile" of the figure on the back of the card when it's so vague or non-descriptive... may as well write nothing about the character at all and just use the space to promote the other figures from the line.

I really like this idea and yes I do miss the traditional 25th style card back with the shadowed out figures of the upcoming lines. one thing I thought was a major improvement was the file cards compared to the ROC version, at least everyone didn't have an 870 long range assault rifle who even knows what that is.
The idea of having a blueprint for the weapons layout is a cool Idea, especially for the one's that come heavily accessorized. the only thing I would add maybe just give them more detailed file cards only because I like the information to be character specific not just a generalization of what the character is.

They already throw in the foldout with a few figures on one side and the dio pic on the other. But it seems that that never changes. Everyone I open is the same. You would think that it would show the specific figures from the particular wave, not just show wave 1 figures every time.

I was just wondering about the inserts -- at what point are they going to update them, if at all? The ones I opened up still show waves 1 and 2, and the same dio scenes.
And it would be nice to have a description of the accessories, even if it were on the side of the card/bubble like the old school Joes.

Agreed. It seems like all we get anymore is "Bob does this. He's good at it, because he's a specialist. Here comes his arch enemy of the day! Will Bob prevail?"

They should give you and online link to see more info on the characters profile and other figures. I don't think most consumers actually read whats on the packaging of any one figure. If I could get higher quality figure with better accessories at the cost of not having a detailed cardback then I would take it in a damn sandwich bag with a marker writing on the side if it came down to it...

I don't bother with the inserts anymore since they don't change. It's a waste of paper and ink if all Hasbro is going to do is print out the same ones with every figure. At this point it won't matter though, since no store will carry Joes.

Excellent idea. Keep the brief "file card" but have a link to the website that provides an expanded (or more traditional) file card that includes a description of the accessories that the figure came with. Hell, don't even provide the link, just put it up on the website for everyone to view. File cards were awesome for the 80's but that was before we had the internet and everyone had a computer. I'd like to see the return of the images of the figures in the line / wave but also the insert that comes with the vehicles that shows everything *figures and vehicles*. I know that they are putting them in with the figures, but lets be honest, they suck. Bring back those old inserts. They were a joy to look at and image what stuff was coming / out there. *Granted, they could do the same thing with this and just put it on the internet* *sigh* |
