I'm not sure any body has brought this up before, but the reason for the neon green helipack is based on a series one M.A.S.K. vehicle, Condor. I'm personally excited about Trakkers inclusion into the 25th line. Here's a pic of the condor from Albert Penello's M.A.S.K. site.
Welcome to the KENNER M.A.S.K. page at Albert Penello.com! I thought it was based on the Jungle Challenge Adventure Pack colors and the helicopter backpack in the Rescue Mission pack. I went to look those up and found this article saying it was an homage to Condor: Matt Trakker.com MASK M.A.S.K. |

G.I. Joe/ TF crossovers are only slightly less ridiculous than a TIE Fighter that transforms into a Darth Vader lookin' robot. Let the young 'uns buy that kinda junk, I don't want to see an Apache helicopter that converts into a Snake-Eyes looking robot. |

What I would like to see are Decepticons turn into a Rattler or Hiss tank, or an Autobot Vamp. How they haven't done this already I'll never know, especially if it were at 1/18 scale! They'd be pricey, but cool as hell! |

Although for fans of Wraith, I'm sure they're really happy to get him. If I kept up with the new comics, I'm sure it would excite me too. At least Wraith is G.I. Joe. I'm in the "Where's Mindbender/Sarge/Monkeywrench/Lifeline/Low Light/Cover Girl/rest of the 13/etc" camp, like a lot of others on here, and Wraith makes me scratch my head, but M.A.S.K. just pisses me off. At least it's not another "Snake Eyes, with bowel syndrome!" random mediocre repaint (I don't want to see that Hasbro), but... meh. Doesn't belong. |

Exactly right.

Let the young 'uns buy that kinda junk, I don't want to see an Apache helicopter that converts into a Snake-Eyes looking robot. Even with the fans of M.A.S.K. out there, which I am not one, it would seem sort of irritating to only get ONE of a series, in another series completely unrelated. I mean, the Roddy Piper, if done in 25th style, would have made more sense. Roddy and Trakker shouldn't have been in the series, plain and simple. Unfortunately, Trakker is on the box art, so I'll end up getting him, but I'll buy it to complete the series, and box him away, because he's frankly stupid. |

However, if they abuse me by not fulfilling their responsibility to produce quality figures of the characters WE WANT, and not only what they want to produce, I will stop purchasing them and only the kids at walmart wanting something to play with will only be the customer base Hasbro will be left with.
And really, like Hasbro cares if one or two of you get mad pack up your stuff and stay home never to buy again. This was all about getting the fanbase excited and talking, and we have.

I for one a THRILLED to see Matt Trakker joining the line. Its great and done very well. Im sure the helmet will be used for a repaint of a range viper soon enough.
Honestly I dont mind an oddball here and there, hell Sgt Slaughter wasnt a joe back in the day, he was a wrestler brought into the joe line so... I hope to see a Miles Mayhem in the Joe line before the end. The MASK Leader and the VENOM Leader. I highly doubt we will see MASK come back, at least not in 3 3/4 form. They NEED vehicles and that would be way to expensive for Hasbro.

Honestly I dont mind an oddball here and there, hell Sgt Slaughter wasnt a joe back in the day, he was a wrestler brought into the joe line so... I do like the international idea (like Ninja Ku, "pilot Scarlett", etc.), although I could care less about the figures really, since their story clashes with what I consider to be any familiar G.I. Joe canon. Looking back, Slaughter was definitely an oddball, but his name WAS Sgt. Slaughter, and he looks like he fits with GI Joe, with the camo, and whole ARMY thing going on. Matt Trakker looks like something more from Star Wars. Maybe later joes, like the crap from Space/Star? Brigade line... And look what that did to Joes then... |

Meh. I'm pretty much with the people that sarcastically ay 'why not throw MOTU, ThunderCats, and GhostBusters in there too.' Some might say that's totally different, but I disagree.
Having a MASK figure in a Joe line is just as ridiculous as having Clawful or Lion-O. The only way MASK relates to Joes is that it was a toyline in the '80s. Which is, after all, the exact same link that Joe has with MOTU, ThunderCats and GhostBusters. To those that say 'would you rather have another repaint SE/SS/CC/etc?' Yes, I would. Because at least a repaint is actually a Joe character. And there are still legitimate versions of the 'big' characters Hasbro could redo, even if I, personally, have more than enough 25th-style Cobra Commanders to last me a dozen lifetimes. Cobra Commander is a Joe character. Matt Tracker is not. I applaud the idea of wanting to revisit MASK. But it should have been done as a HasbroToyShop exclusive, NOT as a figure taking up space in a regular G.I. Joe wave. Financially speaking, and this is just guesswork here, I'm seeing totally new tooling done for Matt's helipack, helmet, and body armour. So in all likelihood, he's taking the place of a NEW character, not a simple repaint, as that tooling cost could (and probably would) have gone towards making up a couple of new parts for a Joe character. After all, there are PLENTY of Joe characters that don't need a new body sculpt. They'd just need a new head or helmet, and new webgear. The rest being kit-bashed from existing parts. So in my mind, Matt isn't using up another Snake Eyes spot, he's possibly using up an Outback spot, or a Pathfinder spot, or a Zap spot.. etc, ad nauseum. However, I'll get him because I have the entire case on pre-order anyway. Despite not liking the idea, I'll use him. Since I create my own Joeverse rather than following the comics or 'toons, I can make him whatever I want. It's not a bad figure, I just would have preferred a Joe character, and I feel including characters that aren't in any way related to the Joe mythos in a Joe line is just... irritatingly stupid. |
