So, I only recently found out about the 25th line, and man, was I excited. Not only because G.I. Joe is friggin sweet, but also because I could buy them for my kid who had not previously been exposed to them. The dork in me wants to collect them, and keep them packaged, and of course the kid in me wants to open them and set them up for a Cobra vs. Joe war on the living room floor. I'm really not willing to buy 2 of each, so I opted to open the ones I got so me and the kid could play Joes and bond, which we have, and now he loves G.I. Joes as much as I do. The problem is we can't find any of the guys. When we do find them, it is of course Buzzer, Cobra Commander and a couple comic packs. And thank god for the comic packs since without them, all we would have is Buzzer and Cobra Commander. So we have some guys, but of course, cannot find most of the cool ones that really make G.I. Joe what it is, and it is kind of frustrating because as I read through the forums here, and explore eBay, I find that people, older people, are pretty much hoarding them. Now, I understand why, part of me wants to do that too, but I also think kids should be able to play with Flint/Firefly/SE & Timber on the living room floor, like I did when I was a kid. I think the reason all us older folks love Joes so much now is because of the fun we used to have with them, in the sandbox, in the bath, in the snow, ect. So, do you guys think that the hoarding will have an overall negative impact on the world of G.I. Joes since the kids will never get to play with the coolest guys? Also, do any of you hoarders feel a bit guilty when you buy more than one of the same guy? Do you consider that there might be some kid out there who just wants to play with Flint and not put him up on a shelf? I personally would rather see Flint in the sandbox, getting buried by some cobras. Maybe his thumb would break off too because of the abuse. I really don't mean to rant here, I would just like to have a discussion and see what others think about all this. The reason I love Joes is because they played a large roll in my childhood, and not because I put them on a shelf, but because I melted them, threw them off buildings, buried them, ect...I want my kid to enjoy them the same way.

Well Hasbro has been re-releasing earlier released figures in the newer shipments. All the TRU's around me just got in shipments of all the wave 2 figures, Snake-Eyes, Flint and Stormy have been re-released and will probably get sent out again.
The main problem is that many of those are the first wave figures which didn't get many made in the first place since retailers were leary about placing big orders initially. Now Hasbro is trying to play catch up to the huge demand that it seems, no one but the fans knew would be there Given how much of Wave 7 has been reported seen (When it is found) I'd say Hasbro is working to get an influx of toys onto the shelves for both Kids and adults alike |

i think you will find your average collector around here does not "HOARD" figures. although it is a common practice to buy many multiples of what we referr to as "army builders". i personally just buy as many for my son as he wants and let him play with them how he wants. availabillity of the product to children and adults would not be a problem if hasbro would just come even close to meeting the demand. the line has been running almost a year now and the supply vs demand issue still has not been resolved!

That's why I buy 2 of each, to keep MOC and to open. To open, so I can display(my favorites or for my troop building) or for when my sons come over and they can play with them. Well, actually don't have to buy as many openers as my sons only like certain characters, so I don't have get 2 of every figure.

defiant shuttle playset can make a great play for kids if they upgrade the playset with less parts to build and much better details and the shuttle and booster easy to lift up without the crank handle.

I buy a complete set of any individual characters and a few (4-5) troop builders to make fire teams. If I find them in a store (I usually don't) well then, they're mine. Too bad. Try another store, or get there first. I don't lose sleep over this and I'm not worried. The 25th line is clearly...CLEARLY...aimed at adult collectors. No comic book for these characters, no cartoon, no advertising aimed at kids; this means Hasbro doesn't care if kids are getting them either. If I was buying them for a child of my own (don't have any yet) I'd make sure I got them the same way I make sure I get them for myself; BBTS, Ebay, ToyWiz, trades, whatever. Nobody has a right to get figures on shelves. Not us, not kids, not the imaginary "scalpers" or "hoarders." Nobody. The only person with the right is the person who finds them.

yet another post blaming others for ther lack of product. i thought we had beaten that horse enough already?
i wish you better luck hunting but please, lets stop placing the blame on people whom purchase these. lets instead persuade hasbro or the retailer to increase production/distribution and inventory levels. i can't leave a store without my son wanting atleast one figure, be it buzzer, cc or a plain trooper. you have to admire the pure spirit and joy of a toodlers love for gi joe.

Not in the slightest. I don't have kids, nor do I want kids, so it's not my responsibility to worry about whether or not they get specific toys. |
