I was watching the CEO of Hasbro say parents want the "ultimate toys" or really nice toys they want to give their kids for Christmas. So that's why they re-released the SW Millenium Falcon. I guess you could say the same with the Marvel Universe Galactus. What about GI Joe though? Maybe they should do a Cobra Terrordrome.
Hasbro CEO on Earnings, Outlook Oh, Hasbro shares (HAS) reached record high today to $48.78, before closing at $46.81, after the company earnings rose to $1.09 per share as sales grew 3% to $1.31 billion, beating analyst expectations of earnings of $1.04 per share on revenues of $1.29 billion. Sales of preschool toys rose 9%, while revenue from boys' toys rose 4%. Girls' product revenue fell 1%. U.S. and Canadian revenue rose 4% to $825.5 million. International revenue rose 3%. Entertainment revenue fell 34% to $27.5 million, mainly because sales of Transformers and G.I. Joe-related toys declined from a year ago, when both properties were supported by a new movie. |

Man, the Terrordrome is overrated. A firebat silo wrapped with empty fuel ports and repair bays...
The Flagg, while cool, is a conundrum of being underscale and still oversized. And the Defiant, while awesome, is kinda impractical. I hope this covers the three I know will be brought up. Keep in mind, "ultimate" doesn't mean "big"... Those little rodents from last year... Furbies, Elmos, N64s and Cabbage Patch Kids. None of these were really massive in size, just hype. Aggressive Marketing really needs to happen for GI Joe before an Ultimate [fail] comes about. |

I agree with you on all three.

I would have thought "Entertainment" revenue would be from video games (tiger electronics) and software. ? I don't see how action figures could be part of this since Hasbro sold the crap out of both Transformers ROF and G.I.Joe ROC toys to the retailers.

Just watched the video and it seemed the panel interviewing him was grilling him with the questions. My favorite question was by the dark haired lady at 4:05 when she asked him "Do you know enough about content production? It seems like such a stretch for you." when he was talking about Hasbro's film and TV. Makes me wonder if she is referencing Transformers ROF with that question. lol!
