There are only 1,000 of them. That's a very small run on an action figure from a mainstream line. The limited edition aspect attracts people who collect "rare" figures from any and all lines, in addition to G.I. JOE collectors who want them. That there are so few to go around is the only reason for the high price. In a few years, after more "rare" figures are released, this one may lose some of its distinction and popularity.
I'm just wondering what the extra factor is here - the fact that it's a wrestler (and there are a lot of wrestling fans out there), or that it's packaged as a 25th figure. Or maybe something else? I agree with you that prices will eventually drop considerably. |

I had one. Ended up selling it about 2 weeks ago for $400. Needed the money and it seemed like it was the easiest figure to sell to get a decent amount. I'll eventually buy another one once I get some debt completely paid off.

In the 80s while I was collecting Joe, my other 2 obsessions were comics and WWF, especially Piper. I would have loved an RP figure back then.

That's not enough. All the Master Collector figures have limited runs, but none of them have approached Piper on the secondary market, except maybe the gold PDD. There are more RAH collectors out there than "new sculpt" ones - it seems weird that it would be the one to hit such high prices. I'm just wondering what the extra factor is here - the fact that it's a wrestler (and there are a lot of wrestling fans out there), or that it's packaged as a 25th figure. Or maybe something else?
