The original; sure it's a little off, but it's a classic. | 258 | 63.39%
Venom v. Valor white labcoat; something a little more dignified for Cobra's top mad scientist | 67 | 16.46%
Something brand new, like what Hasbro's designers did for Serpentor and Zartan | 38 | 9.34%
None of the above; I'd rather have Dr. Venom | 44 | 10.81%

Wow , I can't believe these results. That many people want him in the original version? Regardless of how terrible it was? I'm all for nostalgia, but come on. Please allow him a bit of dignity. Original Mindbender will never have a place in my Cobra Army. I'd still buy one, but only to make into a respectable mad scientist, one that evokes power and intelligence, not laughter.

I just always assumed Dr. Mindbender's shirtlessness and cape represented a sense of pride and over zealousness that embodied the "Madness" of the character. I picture him as a man in his early 50's, and his exposed chest is like his shiny "Camero", something he worked very hard (through Science) to attain. its unnatural to the common person, but he is oblivious. His Cape is his sense of superiority. A delusion of grandeur. His entitlement to be noted as the world's greatest scientific mind. However... as with all Mad Villains... Pride is his greatest downfall, and that is his biggest foe. He is a Tragic Train-wreck of a human... someone who was very gifted, yet tainted by their own overcompensating self image. Plus he has a wicked mustache.

You're kidding right? Even the people who want an original Mindbender know that the outfit was terrible. He looks like a Village People reject, only gayer. Why does an old orthodontist, run around with no shirt showing off his abs of steel? With suspenders and a cape yet. It's his original deco that does not fit with the rest of the line, that's why I have a problem with it. The rest of the figures look good, they look like they fit into this time period, except maybe Serpentor (who I have issues with as well). The rest of the Cobras look like a modern well organized and equipped terrorist force. Mindbender looks like a joke. Like a figure pulled in from an entirely different line. He should have a shirt on, if for no other reason than that labs are notoriously cold. The other Cobra scientists do not want to look up from their microscopes to see Mindbender's erect nipples. Put some clothes on for Christ sake.
not really kidding, but I want the classic way...as long as he looks like the cartoon and looks like the classic character to a point...I had mindbender as kid....I want improved of course but not somethin thats so different |

Original '86 version all the way. They can do other versions later on. I think any characters (that were originally from the ARAH lineup) should be done first in their first, original and "classic" design and then other versions can be done at a later point in time.

Gotta have the Classic Shirtless Mindbender. I NEVER had him as a kid, as his shirtlessness "disturbed" my parrents. As such, I allways wanted him. Still do. If hasbro Never gets around to him in that outfit ( and I'll cry if that's the case) then I'll make him meyslef, as I'd be SHOCKED if they skipped him in the Arise surpentor set. I'm sure we will see atleast one versinon of him. so if it's NOT the one I want, I'll simply buy a Gung-ho, A Shipwrek and a few others to Bash him.
So Bring on the Classic Dr. M Hasbro. Sure make a scientist in a labcopat as well. but the vresion we all seem oto want is the evil, flamboyant, original. |

If he is indeed in the ASA DVD pack then we will obviously be getting the original "classic" version.

The original release of Dr. Mindbender with his "classic" look was the exact point where I began to smell something whiffy with GI JOE back in the '80's.
Having said that, I suppose an update should favour the 'original'. It's conceivable that the V1 design would be marginally less bonkers on the new style figures (maybe). But I'd sooner have a Dr. Venom.
