from what I read on an old post, Target only has a finite number of sets (50,000 total throughout the entire chain) meaning low quantities in each store. I got lucky. Got a friend at work who collects star wars, but he keeps an eye out for things for his friends. He got me all 3 yesterday.

Not to brag but . . . Yeah, I'm here to brag. So I go back to the Toy Department and enter the DCPI numbers in the price checker. They come up as checkout lane 29. I go over there and, lo and behold, there are about 8 sets along with some Star Wars figures in a cylinder. The Star Wars figures looked cool but my eyes were drawn to the figures.
Anyway, everything there has a price listed as 9.99 but the display itself has a big honking sign that says: "$4.99 sale through Saturday." I go up to a cashier and ask her which products were on sale for $4.99. She rings up the Star Wars figures and the vehicles and they both come up 9.99. She responds, "Well, since there's a sign that tells you a lower price, I have to honor it." She calls a manager to confirm and they both agree. 12 vehicles and $50 dollars later, I have big fricking army of Joe vehicles. I wanted to skip work just to play with them and my kids. But, they're at school anyway. So yeah, I gots me some joes. Note: The price is right. makes we want to go over to that wal-mart and make that $.6.84 price dissapear "oops the 6 fell" lol 84. crimson guards......... ::::::::thinking really hard about the ensuing complications of that decision::: |

It looks like here in Central Missouri the Targets seem to have gotten about 4 cases per store and there are 3 in a case which equals a complete set per case.
I remember the Skiff/Y-Wing ordeal as well as the Lava Vader, but the Vader was handled differently here as tickets were given out, but the skiffs were simply put on the shelf. Targets also had very limited quantities of the 12" Biker Scout on Speederbike. Mr. Savage |

I wouldn't worry about a corporate policy at Target that would be less than friendly toward collectors. Mattel convinced the chain to take on their Justice League Unlimited action figures as an exclusive, selling it to them as a line for adult collectors. The problem isn't with Target as a whole, but with the attitudes of managers at individual locations.

Agreed. You get some employees that simply get tired of being hassled to do something that they think is outside their job description.
Honestly, I hope these store exclusives simply break the ground for future mass releases. Store exclusives blow. |

Thanks everyone that's offered to sell me some of their extras. I called about 2 hours ago and they held me 2 HISS, 2 AWE Strikers and 1 Spectre. That was the last of what they had. I picked them up and I'm very happy. Once again thanks everyone for your generosity.

I was lucky. I managed to walk into a nearby Target in Exton, PA and there was the SHARC with Grandslam figure I wanted (trying to complete a set of the original 13).
There was two SHARCs, one AWE Striker, but no HISS tanks. I loathe store exclusives! It's hard enough getting regular releases but it's down-right impossible to get them when they're limited to certain stores! |

Wasn't planning on getting into the 25th line, but I found the Specter and Hiss Tank today. All I need now is a Torpedo figure to go with my Specter (Sharc). I couldn't find a Torpedo but I did find a Comic 2-Pack that caught my eye.

I encounterd that today. The 3 exclusive vehicles are going to be increasingly harder to find because Target is getting hip to those buyer's of multiple's; they think everyone is a scalper. Last edited by STORM SHADOW; 04-15-2008 at 10:53 PM.. |
