| new to board, unbeliveable! I just realized that there was 25th Ann. figures a few months ago. I am playing catchup trying to get them. I am spending way too much time and money on Ebay and internet stores! It is all worth it!
I started collecting or should I say playing with GI Joes around 1986 at the age of 5. I was unable to get most the older figures new, I would have opened them anyway if i did of course! I traded or bought most second hand. Late High School early college a few friends and I expanded our collection some when everyone else our age was selling off their collections cheap for quick cash on the internet.
I am totally reliving my childhood right now! I am having memories I have not had in years just seeing the retro packaging! Where I was when I got the figures, ones I got for Christmas. Figures my father liked. He was a force recon marine in Vietnam and was my real life GI Joe! He died in 1991. The friends I haven't seen since elementary school who I spend hours playing with, just found 2 of them on facebook! Great trades I made, Figures I always wanted and never got. The coveted USS Flagg, which my cousins had! Vehicles destroyed "in battle", MIA figures and weapons. Figures rescued and restored to fight another day. If I put on some 80s music or an 80s movie the memories grow even stronger!
This is the closest I can get to getting in a time machine and reliving these cherished childhood memories. I hope the same is true for those of you my age and that those new to the GI Joe world will have the same memories I have.
