I am pretty much a loose collector, across the various lines like Marvel Legends, DC, Transformers, etc. With the other lines, I’ve never really bought multiples of the same figure in order to collect one loose and keep one MOC. But with the 25th line, I had to do it – the packaging is just too nice and the figures look great on the single cards. So I’ve been buying at least 2 of each and displaying them.
But with the Wal-Mart price for single carded figures going up 40% since the beginning of the year, I’m feeling a bit uneasy continuing to buy multiples. There are 13 figures in the next two waves; say for example I buy 2 of each for a total of 26 figures: 26 x $4.88 plus tax = $135.00 26 x $6.84 plus tax = $190.00 That’s a nice chunk of change, and that's just the next two waves of singles. It makes it tough to justify buying more than one of each figure now. Is anyone else rethinking the ‘multiple-buy’ plan? What about you army-builders out there? |

I am planning on scaling back my army building. I am also planning on scaling back my custom spending. Unless I can get figures for cheap like comic packs, vehicle sets...

I can see a slow down across the board for the 25th line. With the price hike I don't see how any average collector can afford it. We might even see more peg warmers than normal. I personally might ease up on the army building, but I'll still buy 2 of each figure.

I'm buying 10 of each army builder and one of everyone else. Despite the price change, I expect to continue with that plan. However I dont think I'll find that many with as slow as it takes to restock them.

I'm cutting back but at least I got a decent number of blue shirts already. I can have little platoons of Vipers and BATs

I've already cut back on army building because of personal finances (went a little crazy there for awhile). I only buy one of each regular figure anyways. As for my armies, I'll probably just try for 5 of each troop builder...

yeah I'll be getting less and trading more right now. With the new kid on the way and all it is a bad time to bump the price for me.

Sadly, I think I'll only be getting 5 each of the new Viper and BAT. Which sucks because I have over 30 Crimson Guards/ Freds! I guess it's ok. Hell, even having just ONE of each is better than having NONE, right? As for the HISS driver, 3 is my limit (maybe 4, with the black HISS coming up). Everything HAS to be uniform, ya knoW?!?
