I picked up my target exclusive vehicles a couple of days ago. I have to say that i like them alot. Not a bad price for these things. Anyway, my story starts when i approached the checkout, i realized my 5 dollar off coupon was in the car. I told the cashier i would be right back and she held the case for me. I came back inside and saw she had a line and decided to go to the express lane, which had nobody. As i approach, i see a young girl talking to what looked like a shift manager about getting a shift covered or something like that. The cashier pauses long enough to ring me up. Now she scans the box and and tells me to swipe my card. I hand her my coupon and wait for a few seconds. Finally she says i am sorry, i can't accept this because your total is not over 25 dollars. I look at my price and it was 10.67. I immediately told her that there were 3 boxes in the case to scan. I didn't want her to lose her job over some plastic toys. Meanwhile, what looked like her manager is standing right there the entire time. She replies, "don't worry about it, i already have it scanned". "Just go ahead and pay the 10.67" I was in shock, like it was a joke or they were messing with me. But it wasn't a joke. I payed 10.67 for my case and left the store. Baffled, but happy. I have thought about going back to the store several times to pay the difference as i am an honest guy. I just wanted to see if this has happened to any of you....

Strange. She was probably a bit stressed out. Going back might raise some red flags and cause her even more stress. Just keep the money for future buys and make a donation to your church or local charity.

If it had been caught at the time, it would have been worth fixing. I say this as a retail manager myself. If you go back, it will probably take 20 minutes for people to figure out what you're talking about; then the manager would have to spend 5 - 10 minutes fixing it. Then whoever counts the money at the end of the night will add 50% to their time to account for the extra money. Then some Loss Prevention people will have to examine it.
In Canada, that's probably about $40-50 worth of staff time. I don't know what U.S. wages are like in relation to Canada (my understanding is they're a bit lower) but it's almost certainly much more than the $15 it cost the store. So even if you go back, the manager is likely to thank you for bringing it to his/her attention, so that they can speak to the cashier - but won't take your money. It's too much hassle for them.
