I asked this question at another forum but was hoping for some more responses here:
I'm buying some MOC figures soon that I plan to open and I was wondering if there's any kind of preferred technique to opening them while doing minimal damage to the card. I'm not a huge GI Joe collector (yet) and the last time I bought any was back in the 80s when I would just rip the bubble off and cut the bio card out. I hope you guys have some good suggestions. I'm also getting some 2-figure comic packs on Sunday so methods for opening those would also be appreciated. Thanks! |

Hey, A knife sounds like a really good idea.
I just pinch the plastic on one top corner and pull it away from the card, then slide my fingers underneath and all the way around the edges. |

I used to do that in the past, but you end up ripping off the art under the glue that attaches the bubble to the card.
One suggestion I really liked on the other forum was to cut along the bottom of the bubble like has been suggested above, but don't cut the top edge and then just sort of bend the bubble up like a hinge and slip the figure and tray out the bottom. Then you can always slide em back into the bubble if you want and they will hang or stand vertically and look closer to being unopened. You could always cut the top edge off later if you wanted and get the same result as cutting off the entire bubble. I think I'm gonna try that with my single figures. No idea about the comic packs though cause I have never seen one in person, not sure how they are packaged. There's tape on them? |

The sides have flaps that fold over to the back and are taped down to the back. If you wanna keep the 'repack' theory going, then just cut the packaging at the bottom where the bubble folds under and is sealed to the cardback. Then, cut the tape on the back and everything can be unloaded from the bottom 2/3rds of the bubble.
