I think this discussion comes down to really one thing...
Is the great hunt still fun for you? That's it. I am personally done with it. It takes too much time and energy to do it for me. I would rather spend time with my wife then Wal-mart employees. So paying the EBAY prices is more then fine for me. But if you still love the hunt, then go forth and enjoy. This guy sounded like he was pretty frustrated with the big hunt and we all offered him some very real other choices.. 1. BBTS Preorder 2. Ebay 3. Trading and buying on this board All of which are viable options. I just don't want to see another JOE fan loose interest because of local inventory stocking practices. Just don't give up because of empty shelves. There are other ways... |

oh, metaphorically speaking. ;) What you need to do is locate where the scalpers (not collectors) heard and then go around buying up all the crap (Serpentor, C.C., etc) then return them to THAT store flooding it causing them to be deprived. |

I have pretty much given up on hunting for Joes at retail also. I've gotten most of the ones I needed from B/S/T boards on here and a few others. To me, that's the best way. All I gotta do is drive over to the post office, which is 2 minutes from my house, and send off a money order.
Smokehouse, don't give up on collecting them man. There are other options that work great, and thanks to some amazing board members that sell and trade on the B/S/T section, you'll be able to find what you need! |

I think someone is one to something here with this scalpers rant. I witnessed some jackhole grabbing every figure on the rack before at a target. My local target store restocks late friday overnight and I went to check out the new supply in search of a storm shadow and a snake eyes last saturday. I found the storm shadow right away but no snake eyes. As I was checking out what was left this jackhole walked up and proceeded to grab the whole rack and empty it and the other 2 racks(like, 20 some figures) into his cart. He didn't even look to see what was there! I was dumbfounded. I asked him if he was a collector and he said no. He said he needed stock for his online store the he offered me 5 bucks for the storm shadow I had that wasn't even paid for yet. Now I have only been collecting for about 6 weeks and I loved the 25th gi joes they put out but I am very close to just returning everything I already bought and just say forget it. I may have picked one extra up for a fellow collector once but really, why does someone need more then one snake eyes? I have been to 13 different trus ,targets, kmarts and walmarts and I can never find snake eyes. I know they exsist and I have certain people to thank for not finding one.

Bump for my own thread...
Still not a single new single fig...not ONE. At this point I'v pretty much lost interest in looking/collecting. I might get some down the line if they don't sell out until my yet unbornchild hits 18 years old... I still don't have a Torpedo...I've not seen one fig out of the group yet at retail let alone anything else... Tons of comic packs though... This is getting stupid... |

Well I find them from time to time. You just have to either be the first person there in the mornings when they stock otherwise there are alot of other fans who are also looking for these not to mention "KIDS"...

You know for the last couple of weeks I started to see more product, especially at TRU. Of course it was stuff I had already, so it didn't interest me.
However for the most part its just Comic Pack Issue 1. I went to a TRU on Friday and found 1 fixed SE V2, and what looked like the remains of the case he came with. Serpentor, Lady J. They also had Hawk/Scarlett and Day Glow Duke/CC but nothing else. I have yet to see a Dreadnok pack. The Walmarts and Targets are empty. If I didn't have other shopping to do at those two, I'd write them off completely. TRU has been the only one to consistently have at least some stock of Joes. What really annoys me is that they have all this space for Star Wars, and you're lucky if they even have pegs for Joes, let alone product. In TRU they spread the joes out between the PTE, McFarland, and bbi stuff. So the Comic packs are on the end, the singles are mixed with the bbis, and the 5 packs (still $30) are behind the A-10s. |
