hey joes, gung.heaux here.
inspired by the fact that the new figs, feature expanded articulation, in this case the ankles allowing the feet to point straight down, i decided to make an "underwater" diorama for torpedo. this all took about 6hrs over two late nights. the cylinder was some sort of s'mores pretzel sticks i found at target. i started to use a large jalapeno slices jar, but i really didnt know what i would do with all those peppers. i do and would eat them, but we're talking a gallon's worth. and i had nothing to put them in in the meantime and i really wanted to get this project off the ground sooner rather than later. plus, as young.heaux pointed out, idve never fully gotten that pickle smell out...AND...a gallon pickle jar wouldve been tougher to get the background right and probably require another pack of rocks. PLUS, lets face it...a gallon pickle jar...not exactly living room decor. (thats where my joes, and other collectibles are located...computer desk in the living room.) the rocks are real. printed the background from a pic i found on yahoo images. finding a pic that i was happy with AND that was big enough to use took more time than i really thought it would...and that time is not reflected in the time given above. thats actual sit-down project time. torpedo is suspended by fishing line simply looped around his backpack. a toothpick holds the line through and above the top of the lid so i can rotate pedo to any angle, for optimal viewing, depending on where i decide to display him. the lid was grey. had blue metallic paint laying about from some other project. you probably cannot make it out, but on the top of the lid, i painted the blue in a wave pattern. looks more like a frequency modulator pattern than ocean waves, but hey. almost every joe and cobra that i have on display so far, is wielding a firearm...and you often see underwater fights waged with knives. so i stuffed the harpoon down into the left leg holster and gave pedo his knife. (hopefully no tubeworms attack in my living room...his firearm is not in there with him!) what do you think joes!? Last edited by Gung.Heaux; 12-16-2008 at 10:23 AM.. |
