to my recollection the flagg was close to 500 dollars and was not sold in store it was sold though either the sears or jcp catalog. The reason i remember this was, that mine was mailed to aunts house to hide it from me, and they forgot to tell her and this huge thing showed up on her door step. And I would buy a new flagg regardless of the cost, i would just like an updated and new one. I refuse to use some used, hope it's what I think it is one from ebay

The Flagg was sold in stores back then. But that was also the days when an entire length of aisle was nothing but Joes.

I remember the originl Flagg being on the shelf in my local Magic Mart Store (anyone else ever heard of this company?) for $100. I remember asking my mom for it and she said that it was too expensive and that we didn't have any room for it.
The funny thing, when I was a kid if I wanted something really bad and didn't get it, I would get really bummed out. I never got the Flagg but never got really bummed out about it either. My cousin got it for christmas the year it came out and I went to his house to play with it and although it was one of the coolest toys I had seen, I remember not thinking about it or asking my mom for it anymore after that. |

I was a new dad at age 26 when I was in TRu and saw the flagg for 99.99. Same price as the defiant was when I bought it new. I agree that I dont want an economy class defiant, like the Night Raven-lite. I want it bigger, better and with more below-flight deck spaces. I am willing to pay for more as long as I get more. sadly, I mist concede to the prevailing reality that any new flaggs will likely come from custom built efforts.
To that end, lets see some fairly scale-accurate, feature-rich water crafft such as a coast guard patrol ship. not a repaint of the hydrofoil, but something freaking intimidating. As for the eBay cost of Flaggs, it is my opinion that not everyone will have one because, like when they were new, not everyone could afford it. I happen to have one 99% complete. it will become an heirloom to my grandkids (I hope I have at least ONE grandson, or else it will get painted pink.) Finally, I have one thought on Hasbro producing a new Flagg: PRe-sell them to collectors, alongside retailers to ensure a minimum sale at MSRP. That way Hasbro can get closer to the minimum return on the manufacturing cost and it will be less of a risk. It isnt a WOW idea, but it is something.

For there to be such a big ticket, large scale item that takes up prime real estate in the toy aisle, there needs to be significant recognition among KIDS. That's right, kids. Most kids, even the newly inducted Joe fans, don't know about the Flagg. The big ticket Star Wars items - look at how recognizable they are. Kids know a Turbo Tank, and a Falcon. They don't know Flagg. They don't know Resolute, which had minimum Flagg appearance. Even less of it in the movie, which didn't even get name dropped.
And all the talk of "Resolute Flagg". C'mon. Really? Hasbro has barely released any figures from that toon. Why would they invest in a Flagg? If someone really wants a Flagg bad enough, set aside about $50/month and after a year, you'll have a good chunk of change to get a vintage one. They are out there to be had. |

The retailers would lose probably 1/2 the proposed market. That would cause the price to be greater as they retailers would order less.

I'm not sold on throwing out a price of say $500 for a new, re-tooled Flagg. I don't know if any of the original molds are still around, but I see a ton of plastic made toys, a lot larger than the Flagg being sold in the area of $100-200. I see the huge Barbie Dream houses, Hanna Montana Mansions, smaller kitchen play sets for children that use a ton more plastic than a Flagg would. I think that as collector's we place a high price tag on this to go along with the other "high" priced items that Hasbro releases. Seems like we have paid a lot less on the 25th Ann., pre-existing molds as opposed to the newer ROC items. I'm all for taking some pre-sale info, just to see where the interest lies. I'm sure there would be some who would say yes, I want it, just to wait until it goes discount. There will be a few people who truly want this and would pay $500. I'd like to see enough of an interest to find somewhere right in the middle. Another thought would be how many Flaggs were sold when they first came out? Did they sit around and go straight to clearance? I remember shopping at a Hills Department Store...the only place I had ever seen a Flagg. It was so big, they had it sitting in the middle of the bike/big wheel area. Someone eventually bought it, but it was not where you would think it to be. A bulk of the built-in cost would have to be shipping for such a large item. Perhaps coming over from a boat in china would be fairly cheap, but to transport to various stores, you are talking $100 or so...I'm sure places like Hasbro Toy Shop or Wal-Mart.com wouldn't do free shipping!
