I found one of these at our local Wal Mart today. I seem to remember seeing some discussion about it being a variant or something (I don't really follow RoC stuff)...so I picked it up.
I don't want it though because I don't collect RoC and I have no intention of starting. So I thought I would check here to see if anyone has been after this thing. I'm not looking to fleece anyone, so don't worry about that. I'm mostly just looking to create some good 'collector karma' for myself by passing this along at a fair price to someone who might really want it. I would trade for a loose/complete black SNAKE armor since those haven't hit my area yet. I also got a Charbroil, which I may keep and open just because aside from the yellow Barbecue (another trade possibility), it's the only figure I have genuinely liked from this line so far.

It's not a variant, it's a running change. They changed from the black to the gray awhile ago.

with all these threads, and all these sigtings, i STILL can't figure out what is the rare one. everyone says they see this, everyone says they see that, this was the running change, that was the running change, no this one, that one, yadda yadda. same with Dr. rex. White coat is suposed to be the new running change, and failry common, but everyone on ebay lists it as the super rare ultra hard to find variant, yet all i've seen in stores are black coats, and black timbers, half see one, half see the other.

It's easy:
Snake Eyes - black Timber, 1st release. Gray Timber, 2nd release, running change. No more black releases. Gray common. Rex: Black coat, 1st release. White coat, 2nd release, different assortment. Both still shipping. Neither rare. |

At this point, the black timber would be the rare one as there are a lot of gray timber still on the shelf.

The White Coat Rex is a variant. This was confirmed in print in a Hasbro interview in MC. The blue tatoo Night Adder is a variant as is the scarred no mask Storm Shadow.

Sure about the Night Adder?
I've gotten 1 blue tattoo and the ones I've seen in the store are black tattoos. Possible, but the blue tattoo one I got was from online ordering, pretty surprise if got lucky that way.

when i ordered my dr rex from BBTS, i got a letter some time later that due to the running change from hasbro, all future orders of dr rex will be white. i figured that means the black coat was going to be rare, since that is all that BBTS is getting, or does that mean the white coat is an online thing? I have 1 of each now, and 4 black timber SE. i actually picked them up for other people, but they told me that the black ones were the common ones, and they were looking for the white ones.

whoa... didn't know about the night adder.
The gray Timber PP SE is ridiculously common, and kinda silly since Timber wasn't in the movie. The white Rex is a semi-rarity, although I found 2 in the wild same store / same peg. Have yet to see a tattoo variant night adder, if this snow ever lets up I'm gonna have to go hunt a few down.. On that note- anyone else break the arms of the Night Adder? They are ridiculously flimsy, the joint in the elbow is the size of soder wire, couldn't believe how tiny that joint is for a bulky arm. That said- anyone want to swap for a broken Night Adder for parts?
