...who swap, replace, repaint, remold, and substitute parts and accessories of your figures.
kudos to you! you certainly show you love for your joes. i cannot do it. (im like an action figure collecting version of Monk) pistol with the siegie? he keeps it. guns for the twins? they keep them. limbs? they keep em. and heads? oh, dear lord...they have to keep them. snow job's melon on RnR's body...oh, hell no! ive looked at that site marauder you guys talk about and like what i see product wise. but i just cannot give a joe an accessory (or any other part for that matter) that he or she didnt come with. (those berets on the cobra troops do look cool though) oh, i did paint snow job's visor black to reflect the look of the original figure...that and his eyes made him look like he was being electrocuted. maybe, someday...i can lend cobra commander torpedos pistol, which i didnt use...but, until then, the commander can dry fred's pretty blonde hair. |

I have alot of respect for those of you who do customs too. I admire the fact that you take a figure and try to make it better...

That's why I buy 2 of the ones I wanna open. MOC keeps all the original gear, while the open one allows me to add better weapons, customize or whatever.

Anyone who can create something cooler from something else is an artist.

To be completely honest...I don't make a change unless I have a double. The original parts of the first go in a do not touch compartment and the parts of the doubles go in an extra bin. I was wanting to remake the SS v2 to be like the original since like September, but I waited until I got the crappy comic pack one before ever touching it. Even when I improve the figure for the better, the original stays intact.

(example: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/showth...3819#post13819 ) To me, the OCD problem comes in having figures that are almost great, but just miss the boat. My current issue is with the Archangel minimate variant. He looks like this: http://www.scifigenre.com/itemDetail...&nItemID=51169 It is so close to being a cool, vintage Angel, but requires changing his head, wings, and hair from other figures (for instance, Aquaman's head, Hawkman's wings, and possibly a modified helmet from Booster Gold). So, I have to go and buy all these extra figures to make the Angel that I want. . .I can not help myself, though. I don't care about having doubles. If the original figure isn't good enough and I make a change, I don't feel a need to have the original, official version. Last edited by karamazov80; 03-06-2008 at 04:32 PM.. |

I'm with GI Guppy, I only customize the doubles, too. In fact, I didn't start customizing any figures until the 25th figs came out. I didn't think you should customize your figures or you would be breaking some kind of secret code or something. Then I found Joe Customs and Hisstank and it seemed like it was okay to customize. Now I love it.
