I have this argument with my daughter every weekend when we go to Hobby Lobby. Let's put the eternal argument to a vote.

doll
–noun 1. a small figure representing a baby or other human being, esp. for use as a child's toy. I'd say they are all dolls... |

they're all dolls. I'll usually call them dolls up front to avoid it being used against me when I show someone my collection for the first time. or discussing it with my dad. he's always called them dolls and I got over arguing about nit a long time ago... so: dolls all the way!

I say, if it's for boys it's an action figure.
If it's for girls, it's a doll. Case closed! ;)

From Wiki: Quote:
The term "action figure" was first coined by Hasbro in 1964, to market their G.I. Joe figure to boys who wouldn't play with dolls. G.I. Joe was initially a military-themed 11.5-inch figure proposed by marketing and toy idea-man Stan Weston. It featured changeable clothes with various uniforms to suit different purposes. In a move that would create global popularity for this type of toy, Hasbro also licensed the product to companies in other markets.
All other brands are suspect.

I voted option 3.....people at my old job use to say they were dolls, but my arguement which was very articulate and well thought out was basically this "yeah f*ck you"
