Like many of you, I grew up in the '80's and had a number of GI Joe's, although Transformers were always my first love. Now with a son of my own, my interest has rekindled. I sold my "toys" several years ago, so we are starting over. I can't get excited about the RoC series. It just doesn't seem right to me and I don't think I'll get over it. However, the 25th anniv. series is quite fun, and my 7 year old son and I are enjoying finding the joes wherever we can.
We were out in Branson this Thankgiving doing some shopping and didn't really see much that interested us (in the Joe department). My son did spend his money he had saved on the #2 of 5 DVD set (Revenge of Cobra) that we found at TJ Maxx. My wife likes to hit the Goodwill stores and so we went also.
My son and I walked down the toy aisle and I was very surprised at what I saw. In fact I wasn't quite sure what I had found but the GI Joe sticker certainly caught my eye. I immediately turned the plane over to see "Hasbro 1984" on one and "Hasbro 1986" on the other. I thought my son was going to have a fit (or maybe it was me, LOL).
Anyway, turns out the one is the Tiger Rat and the other is the Python Patrol Conquest X-30. There was a figure in the cockpit of the Rat. I didn't know who he was but I searched and came up with "Hot Seat" as his name.
$5 each and I was proud to hand over my money. The rat has all the missile's except one and all the hatches. It is missing one of the rear landing gear wheels. The conquest has all the hatches but none of it's missiles. Other than that, they are fabulous.
Just had to share with you...

are you sure they arent the re-releases? I know the figure probably solidifies it but you never know!

I think they're originals. The stickers don't appear to be see-through.

Cool score man! Looks like you need the two rear tail fins and the two small canard wings for the conquest and the Tiger Rat looks pretty complete, it may be missing two hatches (I think it came with two normal and two "damaged" hatches like the Rattler did) but, the gunner's canopy is still there! Awesome

I was surprised that the figure and missiles were there. Granted, some are missing but that would be something easily misplaced at a Goodwill.
Would the re-releases say "Hasbro 1984" and "Hasbro 1986" on them? I figured that was a good way to verify that they were original. I'm more familar with re-issue G1 transformers though. The re-issue TRU G1 figures still say something like "Hasbro 2002".
The rat didn't have any additional hatches, so I guess I may be missing those. I might need to get a hold of a inventory list and see what they were supposed to include. Thanks for the heads up on the additional wings/fins for the conquest.

Nice find. At least some of the reissue Joe stuff has had the same copyright dates on them. (The recent snake armor is a good example). Check out yojoe.com for a good list of the parts that would have been included.
