I play with the new ones, 25th and up, with my son and enjoy them. As far as collecting and keeping on shelves that would be the old 3 3/4 hands down. The older ones hold memories of playing and shopping at the old stores.

I kinda wonder if I've "grown up" lately. I still love going shopping and opening Joes but once they are open and I've messed around with them for a bit, they just go up on the shelf and that's pretty much it. I think about getting out of action figures altogether lately. Just afraid once I sell them, I'll change my mind....like I have 2 times before already.

I remember when all of my Joe stuff just became boring, I started to get into RPGs and WH40K. I wasnt just limited to the toys that I could buy, I wasn't into customization then. Since I got back into collecting and customization about a year ago my interest was rekindled. I was able to bring my love of customization from WH40K to the Joes. It adds a completely new element to their enjoyment. Their just not the plastic figures I bought, they're what I want them to be.
Plus, I've petered out on the ROC figures. They're good for basic parts, but they aren't throwing anything too cool at us yet. Plus, ther is no character support for the new figs. I did a modified ROC Shipwreck, but after watching the old shows I'm thinking I like the open shirt lady killer Jack nicholson Shipwreck better. |

BITE YOUR TONGUE!!! I will not have those words uttered again...this I COMMAN---request. ;)
However I completely agree with the OP. However, I don't think it has anything to do with the actual toys, it has to do with the memories attached to the vintage figures/vehicles/playsets. Most of the enjoyment and pride we get from our vintage toys is that we have fond childhood memories, at least for me. Sure the 25th/ME display better...pose better...and are overall a higher quality toy...however none of us had them as a kid. Just my 2 cents |
