Hey guys and gals (well, it's a GI Joe board...I assume no gals). This is my first post here, and I'm pretty jazzed about about it.
As like many of you, I loved GI Joe as a kid. LOVED IT. But, I got older, grew out of playing with toys, and eventually sold off pretty much all my old Joes (except for my 1982 straight-arm mail-away Cobra Commander...no f'in way I was selling him!). Then I moved on. I eventually started collecting toys again as I got older, starting with Jason Voorhees figures, and soon moving on to other random stuff. However, during all this time, I had no idea how awesome modern Joe figures had been getting. By my current standards, while I had magical memories of my Joes (and especially Cobra, which was my favorite), IMO the original figures looked like ass today. So, imagine how I almost pooped myself one day when I go into a Marshall's with my gf and randomly discover City Strike Snake Eyes in the toy aisle. I was BLOWN AWAY. I had never seen detail like that on a 3 3/4" figure before, let alone the separate (is in not sculpted on) webgear and all the accessories. I bought it on the spot and that figure alone re-ignited my love of Joe and Cobra. Yes, I had seen the Rise of Cobra movie and through it had sucked, but this fantastic figure made me realize that GI Joe was still going strong nonetheless, and I realized that I had to catch on a lot of figures- it wasn't long before I discovered the 25th Anniversary Line that had re-created all my beloved old-school figures using modern sculpting techniques, so of course I had to get them...then Pursuit of Cobra, and the 30th Anniversary stuff. I mostly collect Cobra stuff, but there were some Joes I had to get too, but I had to get almost everything via Ebay, since I only got back into Joe within the last year or so. Anyway, I'm way excited at the prospect of actually going into a store soon to buy a brand-new GI Joe line when the movie toys are released. I'll be sure to post pics of my newly-acquired collection soon, which mostly consists of Cobra stuff (especially Cobra Commander, my fav). So, that's my hello crap. Hope to see you guys around. I just posted a thread in the General Customs Discussion board on a kitbash I'm working on, and would appreciate input from you kids. Thanks. Oh, and if hello threads are frowned upon here, sorry.
