So I've been buying all the 25th Joes and had not opened any until today. My plan was to wait until my son is old enough to open them all with me.
However, I cracked and started with single carded Storm Shadow. In the process, I really jacked up the back of the file card. I guess I reverted to my childhood and ripped it open without a care. However, I really want to make sure I preserve the card and packaging as much as possible with the next ones I open. Does anyone have a good technique they can recommend? Thanks in advance. |

Well I take an x-acto or scalpel and cut around the bubble to take it off. Leaving the card pretty much fully intact.

I do the same. I take an exacto/box cutter/etc. and slice as close to the card as possible.

Thanks. I just opened a Cobra Trooper that way and it worked out perfectly. I kind of feel like an idiot for not figuring that one out on my own but I was too excited I suppose. I've got all black Snake Eyes on my desk now too. I am going to try to stop at 4-5.

Surf...good luck trying to stop, LOL!
I'm a mint on card collector. ie - I don't open ANYTHING. Yet I have 10 or so opened already...it started with the Secret Santa we had here. I opened a Red Ninja Cobra Trooper & Firefly (which all still sit on my desk together)...ever since, I have to buy 2 of all of my favorites just so I'll have one to open! |

Good freaking luck! I went through this when the 25th first came out. The best advice I was given was a heat gun. Just be careful not to damage your figure, or burn yourself. I've not found a chemical that won't damage the card. Mostly, I just use a sharp razor and cut the bubble next to the card, and just deal with the little ring. Hope this helps.

OOPS! It's a spray that I heard about from some diecast customizers. The back of the card gets SOAKED. Then, like 20 min later, slowly lift the bubble. With luck, you can almost remove the bubble clean. A little paper is left on the back of the bubble but with patience, the bubble can be glued back on the card with no trace of it ever being removed. This is great for customs but could be sad if someone was dishonest and tried to pass off a custom as a variant or something.
