I remember in 2001 when the new devils due G I joe comic started coming out, it got me back into G I joe.
I really wanted the oriinal figures becuase they were the best. Finally, 2007 arrived and my dream was now a reality, re-releases of the orginal figures at fair prices. So I collect these because I never had many original Joes and these resemble them. I love how they use the look of the original cards and I love how the figures look, many look better than the originals in my opinion. As for value, I bet some of the more popular ones will be worth something down the line, like snake eyes/timber and flint to name a few. I also think the figures used for army building could fetch a little more in the future. If you think about it, if someone finds in a store 10 destros and 10 troopers, they'd probably buy one destro and all the troops if they build armys. In a short while, those troopers will have a lot less in package available then a regular figure. I doubt these will ever be worth that much though. the originals are so high becaue they are originals. |

Thanks for the feedback thus far fellas. Just a note, the $ I'm using for collecting is "disposable" income-I have 401k, stocks, mutual funds, etc. I'm not hoping to retire on anything made from 25th line.
I just like to admire them on the card for now, but would like to know they are worth something down the road. Also, I'm trying to figure out if I should save my allocated 25th line $ and buy 80s Joe stuff instead. What ratio do you spend on 80s Joe stuff vs 25th line stuff. I'd say I'm around 9:1 right now (for every $9 spent on 80s Joe stuff, I spend $1 on 25th line). |

I collect them for investment. In a few years I'll sell them all, and when I'm sitting on my yacht with my top hat and monocle eating caviar, I'll be laughing. Laughing! Because that's how happy I'll be.
Seriously though, I just get them for the enjoyment. I buy 2 of each of the single-carded figures. One is to open and the other is because I just love to see the figures displayed on card. As a kid, I used to keep some of the packaging so I could put the figures back in and...I don't know...pretend I hadn't opened them yet maybe. Maybe I'm just trying to recapture that.

I collect them for nostalgia. I buy one of each and then open them. I get mine at Target or the Big Bad Toy Store. I have recently been more excited about the new Joes over the new Star Wars figures. Plus, I thank the figures kick major butt.

I collect 25th because I've collected G.I.Joe my entire life. I couldn't imagine giving up on the line. It's fascinating to see how trends have come & go (ie - Neon, Ninja Force, etc.).

I love them and I like seeing my son get excited over the things I had when I was a kid.

I collect them because I'm a big kid basically (I'm 20 now)...I like everything about them, the art, the figure design and sculpts. I don't see them as an investment, i see it as something cool from my childhood that I don't particularly want to let go of, because I love the characters, the figures and most importantly the memories these things gave me!
Oh and opening them makes me feel like a kid again, and if that is wrong to some people I don't want to be right! I don't see them as an investment though, hell if they are worth something down the line, and I'm in desperation for money then cool I'll consider getting rid of them, but for now they'll stand proudly displayed in my room, scaring away girlfriends, lol.

I just love them for what they are, the value means nothing. I like to keep them unopened but the card by no means has to be gem mint, just like the way they look and the memories they bring back.
