Lately going to the the retailers and seeing the same old figs that most of them have on the pegs. I want to buy them, I mean I still need certain ones left for my collection ie Desert ambush Duke, Covert Scarlett, Delta 6 accelerator suit Ripcord, reg Storm Shadow, Zartan, Neo Viper, but I just cant pick a certain one, go to the cashier and open it at home.
I guess part of me is waiting for PP Baroness, Reactive armor Ripcord, Accelerator suit Duke, and The Doctor to be common in the stores in my area. Last edited by Zanzibar; 08-31-2009 at 05:31 AM.. |

Aye...I was fully set to wait out for the 5pack for Zartan, but ended up grabbing him in a disappointing run to TRU. There are certain peg warmers I've held off on...but if the shit selection here in Montreal keeps up, I'm sure I'll have them soon.

I havent seen Zartan AT ALL or I would get him. The only things Im seeing are Storm Shadow, Scarlett, Heavy Duty and maybe a Destro here and there. None of which hold my interest for long. The only vehicles I'm seeing are the Mole pod and Night Raven. :/

I had this same problem during the last TRU sale. Sometimes when I repeatedly debate whether to buy a figure or not, in my head I have an imaginary conversation with the figure in question. I let them plead their case to me of why I need them.
That's ultimately why I came home with the a Sgt. Stone figure, when he convinced me that, although he's only 3.75 inches in height and made of plastic, he's still cooler and a better actor than Brendan Fraser.

Pegwarmers=Consolation Prizes, dude.
when i used to drive 3.5 - 4 hours to Birmingham, or to ATL, or just 90 minutes to Panama City to just get away, i would go to several stores and become pissed at the "wasted" effort. But I never went home empty handed because a pegwarmer i would never have bought before was there. one trip to B'ham, i found nothing i really wanted, but found a figure for my best friend- it was the mid 90s star wars line Ugnaughts 2 pack. it had a layer of dust on it. i grabbed it and my best friend still thanks me for it. He never saw that figure in any store, ever. So pegwarmers are the fallback figs that are always there when you strike out on the bigger things. so in a weird, superstitious way, i never dis the pegwarmers because the toy gods might not bless me later for it, ya know?

the funny thing about peg warmers is eventually they dont stay peg warmers and the ones you are on the fence about you will probably end up wanting later on when they arent around, i remember passing up so many ME figs just like yeah ill get it later and now i have to get them off ebay, kinda sucks when they use to be just a quick drive away.

Thus why it's best to collect / buy what you want. If you want a complete collection draw that line in the sand and work towards that goal. It will be easier on your sanity but it doesn't always work out that way.
DC Universe Classics wave 1 Batman and Orion seriously clogged the pegs here forever and I was so use to Mattel failing that I didn't give that toy line any consideration until wave 4 or so and by that point everyone else was catching onto the line as well and all of a sudden those peg warmers were $20-30 a piece on ebay. |
